Here we go again: our roster has better 'value', is more fiscally responsible and is just good enough to almost win a ring.

If this isn't sarcasm this sounds incredibly entitled after what happened last month.

You really didn't pay attention to the Super Bowl, did you?

Ah yes because we did not almost lose the SB after a miraculous catch in the last few minutes of the game.
Come on you are smart enough to know that those teams were in the same position as this one and just did not make a play like this one did...by a UDFA.

Y'all are really taking the bait this last page or so...

I do agree with TheoShmeo that Browner has a lot of value regardless of your scheme. Revis makes the whole defense better but Browner should have a role without him too. Seems strange.

To be serious for a second ... the Pats waited until the last possible second to make their offer to DMC, yes? There were multiple reports that there wasn't even any real conversation until DMC apparently called Belichick. Who's to say the Pats aren't taking some version of that approach here? Obviously Revis doesn't have the relationship—or put another way, loyalty—to the Pats that DMC does. And Revis obviously has a great deal more leverage – and while I wouldn't quite say Gost is to DMC as DMC is to Revis, Revis is going to cost a lot more cap space than DMC.

We should be patient. In the words of His Holiness Adam Schefter: "Not over yet."

Good lord, apparently even the mildest sarcasm is too much atm:

1. We are 1 for 3 in this decade in having the last minute of a SB lucky breaks go our way, in a fair world we would have done better, but...
2. Woody Johnson is a complete asshole, capable of breathtakingly dumb desperate shit, and his credibility even with the fools at Gang Green has reached rock bottom.
3. Everyone, including, unfortunately, Revis' agent is aware of #2 and until we got to free agency, despite his best attempts to tamper, nobody can guess just how stupidly large an offer
    Johnson would make.
4. There is some number which is so large Revis will take the money even if he knows in his heart, the rest of his career is likely to be futile.

100% with you, my friend.

It only takes one phone call for everything to change -- and we have incomplete information. Let's ride this out a bit.

Based on absolutely nothing, I would bet that whatever offer Revis gets from the Jets is brought back to NE. Just wonder how close they'll need to get.

I can't see Butthead cheaping out on Revis, he can't lose this one to the Pats, he's gotta be all-in. And the Pats/BB won't chase.

Dust-off the tampering charges.

Slightly off-topic, but only slightly...regardless of whether they get Revis or not, the tampering by the Jets here has been so blatant that the NFL should really bring the hammer down.  They won't, of course, because God knows illegally tampering with a player who can alter championship aspirations isn't nearly as serious as hunting down the halftime internal pressure of footballs used in a blowout game, but they should.

I am already in a lather about this and nothing has happened yet. It is worse than Spygate, worse than bountygate, about eight thousand times worse than deflategate...and we all know nothing will happen

Yep. 100% agree with all of this.

It will be SO frustrating when they receive no punishment whatsoever.

If you fall for a fake account in this day and age, throw your computer and phone in the sink because you're trash at the internet

I hope my sarcasm detector is broken.  Common knowledge should not be something illegal.  Mentioning that you would love to have an all-pro play for your team should not be tampering.  Now if he had come out and said he wanted to make him the highest paid CB in the league by X % that would be another story.  Publicly announcing something universally understood should not be tampering as far as I'm concerned.

I don't disagree at all but it is CLEARLY stated in the rulebook that what Woody did was tampering. There is no way to talk around it or misinterpret it. It was tampering, period.

Edit: Any public or private statement of interest, qualified or unqualified, in another club's player or that player's agent or representative, or to a member of the news media, is a violation of this Anti-Tampering Policy. (Example of a prohibited comment: Hes an excellent player, and wed very much like to have him if he were available, but another club holds his rights.)

@AdamSchefter: Sense out of New England is that Darrelle Revis is likely to be a Jet, per sources. NE still will make final push. Not over yet.
Which is what I leak when I want to send the message "Hey we are near our max and you keep telling us the Jets are offering more so we are calling that particular bluff and making it clear that we are prepared to walk away and to make you stare the fact that you could go from Superbowl champ to New York Jet right in the face there Darrelle.  As your agent knows this is the leak that happens before our best and final regardless of how we actually feel about the likelihood of signing you"

Or this is just the endless strutting and fretting before something actually happens.

Except that Woody J tampered with Revis. No ifs, ands or buts. What he did is used as an example in the NFL rules as tampering.

If I was an NFL owner I would want Woody punished.

It would be smart bargaining by Revis. Shop the highest offer you can. Don't say it can't work to some degree. McCourtey made it work.

Not to get off-topic but Jerry Jones had an actual conversation with Adrian Peterson last off-season about him eventually playing for the Cowboys.
He was not penalized for that.  If that doesn't draw a tampering charge then I have a hard time seeing the NFL coming down on Woody.
