for my own amusement, thought I'd post my picks:

Green Bay Packers (+5.5) at Seattle Seahawks: I had the 'hawks...trust me!
New Orleans Saints (-3) at Atlanta Falcons:  Saints in a blow out.
Minnesota Vikings (+4) at St. Louis Rams: Vikings -- tough call for me, but I don't see how the Rams score many points.
Cleveland Browns (+6.5) at Pittsburgh Steelers:  Browns call me a Hoyer believer, plus the Browns should have a good defense.
Jacksonville Jaguars (+10) at Philadelphia Eagles: Jags, I think they're one of those teams that will lose a lot of close games this year.
Oakland Raiders (+5.5) at New York Jets: Raiders, Geno will be better, but that secondary.....
Cincinnati Bengals (+1.5) at Baltimore Ravens: Bengals -- one of the easiest calls this week.
Buffalo Bills (+7) at Chicago Bears: Bills  -- not sure why i'd pick a team that is self-destructing in pre-season, but the Bears defense just seems bad.
Washington Redskins (+3) at Houston Texans: Texans, off the RGIII bandwagon (and right back on if he has a good game).
Tennessee Titans (+3.5) at Kansas City Chiefs: Titans -- pretty good team the weeks Locker is healthy.
New England Patriots (-4.5) at Miami Dolphins -- Pats, a TD game, but the Fins just have too many guys out.
Carolina Panthers (+1) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Bucs, an easy call (especially if Newton is out).
San Francisco 49ers (-4.5) at Dallas Cowboys: Cowboys - they're not as bad as people say, and that's a fuckload of injuries the 49ers have.
Indianapolis Colts (+7.5) at Denver Broncos: Broncos. Another easy pick. A lot of points, but the Colts aren't that good. The Broncos are that good.
New York Giants (+5) at Detroit Lions: Lions in a cakewalk.
San Diego Chargers (+3) at Arizona Cardinals: Cardinals - really tempted by the Chargers, as I think AZ takes a step back this season, but may as well go with the home team.

Looking at those picks in macro, obviously going way too often for visitors. But what the hell.

I'm so ready to watch some football.

9-4 so far -- thought I had the Jags-Eagles pegged for a while, but...naw.  I still stick by the Cowboys pick as not absurd, though the score doesn't show it -- Tony Romo punctured that.

Joe was really fawning over the Niners dominating Dallas but I don't think they did at all.  If Romo plays with even 3/4 of a brain Dallas was right there.

The NFL has an NFL problem right now. Seriously, this is becoming (no, this is) unwatchable. The league doesn't care because it has more money than God and is laughing all the way to the bank. But the only way for me to watch a game now is to DVR it, wait a half an hour to 45 minutes, then start watching. This allows me to skip the commercials and the endless interminable referees conferences, times out, and television sideshow circuses. I watch one game a week, and when the Patriots have a bye a dont watch any games. I know Roger Goodell won't miss me, but what this league has become is a shame.

Give me the EPL or the NHL.

Carrie Underwood easily the highlight of the day since halftime of the Pats game.

The Niners really seemed to dial back the offensive gameplan once it was 28-3. So, no way to tell whether Dallas could have been right there with competent QB play or not.

Can we take note of Andy Reid's brilliance?
With Bowe out he has really only 1 skill player on offense who should be starting for an NFL team. Luckily that's Jamaal Charles one of the best RBs in all of football.

Strategy.. come out Running, 4 of the first 5 plays are to Charles. Then he got only 7 more touches the rest of the days.

TEN TOUCHES? Donnie Avery got 13. DONNIE AVERY.

Andy Reid is a terrible coach.

Vinatieri doinks one off the upright, but gets a delay of game penalty, so now they are punting it.  Not sure why because he clearly had enough leg.  Too early in the game to worry about field position that much, IMO.

And of course, ball is punted into the end zone, touchback.  They gained about 20 yards of field position by my count.  Should have tried for the 3 points.

OK, Vinatieri just hit the upright 20 feet up on the FG, so it's clear he can make it, but then you punt??  C'mon, it's Denver, the ball flies a lot further.

edit: and what DotB said above.

Well 30 versus a missed FG, so it was a 53% chance (Adam's career percentage on 50+) of 3 points vs a 47% chance of giving the Broncos the ball at midfield.
The call was fine to me, the execution was the issue, kick it out of bounds not right down the middle.

I am not talking full careers, and I'm certainly not talking playoffs, but right now and probably last year too, even when allowing for other offensive talent discrepancies, Manning and Brady really should not be mentioned in the same sentence. RIGHT NOW, one is obviously better than the other.

This one should be over very quickly, allowing for an early retirement .. One more TD should do ot

This game has some risk of becoming a multi-hour Manning tribute special unless Indy shows more here

Indy has one of the worst RB corps in football, Denver can come after Luck every play and not worry about getting gashed by the run.

I recall a prime time game last year when Denver jumped out to an early lead...

Forget the Mannings.

How many Hall of Fame players in any major sport have enjoyed later success as an executive?

Elway has done a nice job since taking the reins in Denver.

Playing on the road .. The home cooking on the reffing front should prevent a repeat.

Jerry West for sure.  Larry Bird and Dwight Clark come to mind....

Oh, and Elgin Baylor of course.  Oh you wanted 'successful' huh?

Wow that's a generous spot. I thought he got it, but they gave him at least a full yard too much.

Is manhandling Collinsworth code for grabbing a handful of jersey to prevent the guy from getting the corner?

Okay. My sound is off. Thanks. But still, that seems absurd. He bumped him as they ran it seemed. And the ball was way out of bounds. These rules are getting so wonky.
