It's the NFL Week 1 Game Thread

"Thunder and Lightning" was a clever nickname for a power back paired with a scat back like Tiki Barber and Ron Dayne.  It's a forced, trite, uninspired description of two relatively similar receiving RBs like Bell and Bush.

PS The Giants blow.  Hard.

So Eli has started this year where he left off last year, eh?
I honestly think Nassib is the starting QB in 2015. Coughlin may have been forced into retirement, as well.

How did we lose 2 Super Bowl to this piece of shit?
Because our offensive line could not handle defensive pressure up the middle. Some shit never gets resolved.

I dunno, you gotta feel pretty good about the Lions after this game.  Stafford has looked incredible tonight.

Agree, Stafford has looked fantastic. He's obviously helped a bit my Megatron but lots of good decision making tonight.

Cautiously optimistic , but you can see a lot of improvement in Stafford from last year. That last drive , would have been a 3 and out last year . Still I have to hope a lot of these injuries in the secondary are minor , because they can't afford to lose any guys back there .

If the Pats team from the 2nd half is the real version of the Pats, they'll struggle to beat any team in the league.

Luckily I don't think that's who they really are, or at least will be.
If this is the Lions, it going to be a tough game no matter which iteration of the Pats show up.

Yeah, Stafford avoiding the big, dumb mistake when it looked like he had a few opportunities for it has to be pretty encouraging for Lions fans. Giants got some pressure on him but he always seemed under control. Took a few shots when he thought he had something, otherwise threw it away and moved on to the next play.

Rough spot there. Dude was literally right there staring at the ball.

Never mind, didn't think the knee was down at first.

It's a shame there aren't two professional people whose job it is to provide insight into what we're watching to indicate stuff like that

That was pretty Chargers right there. Bad snap boots them out of FG range on 3rd down.

That was such a Chargers way to finish that game. I'm not sure there's any franchise better at finding ways to lose in crotch throbbingly painful fashion than San Diego.
