As CMC is out with an injury this week, he will finish the season with 1459 rushing yards and 564 receiving yards for a total of 2023 yards from scrimmage. This is the first time in NFL history that a player will finish with the same number of yards from scrimmage as the calendar year.

This is wonderful!

The #49ers had a total of 15 players lead in NFC Pro Bowl fan voting at their positions: QB Brock Purdy RB Christian McCaffrey FB Kyle Juszczyk WR Brandon Aiyuk TE George Kittle OT Trent Williams G Aaron Banks C Jake Brendel DE Nick Bosa DT Arik Armstead LB Fred Warner CB Charvarius Ward P Mitch Wishnowsky LS Taybor Pepper WR/RS Ray-Ray McCloud

Here's hoping no one gets to play in the actual Pro Bowl

Game set fpor Saturday at 815pm. Green Bay Packers (first 7 seed to win a playoff game) at SF 49ers.

There was a lot I could not see this weekend because my mom's youngest brother passed away suddenly, but as soon as I saw the GB-DAL score I knew the Niners would get the Saturday game (Eagles-Bucs play Monday, figured the league would not make them play on short rest).

49ers open as heavy favorites, but this game does give me pause. The Packers are the #7 seed but they have played really really well since Thanksgiving (when they "upset" Detroit) and Jordan Love seems to be the real deal.
The defense will have its work cut out for them.

The way I see it, Purdy needs to play his game and avoid big mistakes. That's what did him in vs Baltimore.

I am already nervous.

Niners are going to murder the Pack. Dallas is a two bit organization and Dak was awful yesterday until the game was out of hand. San Fran isn't Dallas, they play to win. Dallas plays to lose. You really cannot overstate how bad Dak was in the first half yesterday.

Brock isn't going to do that.

Also, condolences to you and your mom and your family. I'm sorry.

Niners have given us a lot of heartache over the last years. That's coming after 5 Super Bowl rings but still...

And thanks. It's been rough this past week.

The optimistic news coming out of this week for the niners is that Armstead, Hargrove, Jennings, McCaffrey, and Brown are all 100 percent back, no injury designation.

The DL difference with Armstead clogging the middle is significant. I think it'll allow Bosa and Young to be much more effective on the edge and should really help slow the running game while still playing zone in general.

Jennings is an unsung hero on offense. He's the best blocking WR I've ever seen and seems to always come up with multiple big 3rd down conversions. Both guys were missing for a while, so, minus Hufanga and Ferrell, Niners are basically full strength.

So my blood pressure is probably back to normal. Emphasis on probably.

Shanahan is a good coach, he is, but he does not change and adapt, like he should have here. They should have used CMC more. But OTOH Brock Purdy was off his game. He has made very good throws throughout the season, and missed a lot. Not to mention the Packers defense dropped two easy INTs. And they were lucky on the 4th and 1 at the beginning of the 2nd quarter.

That said, Green Bay does not look like a 7 seed. Many pundits have said so and we saw it here. Jordan Love made some pretty good passes but I have no idea what was up with the defense. I am watching the replay now and see how many holes opened up plus more than a few gift PI calls (including a Flacco special on 3rd and long). Wilks needs to get to work. The Niners are great at making adjustments so let’s see what they do next week.

My man. My internet crapped out at the start of the 4th quarter. That was about 5am? It was something with my router. I tried fixing it. My wife had to get up at 7 for work. She was *pissed*. Followed the 4th quarter on @Marciano490 ’s yahoo sports. One of the most stressful hours in a long time doing it that way.

Somehow fixed my router this afternoon, which at least saved me €377. But I’m really pulling for the Bucs after last night. I would have been for the Lions on principle, but I much prefer the Bucs matchup after last night.

I really want to think that was the result of 2 weeks off, and I hope I’m right. I’ve got a lot of confidence in Shanahan and the players. I hope that isn’t misplaced.

Did you watch during Shabbat, or a replay?

Glad you got to see it!

My friends were texting me during the 4th quarter, “are you seeing this?” and I was like, “my internet shit the bed.”

That was my (second) worst nightmare before the game. At least it wasn’t #1 :)

I’d feel a lot better facing TB next week after last night.

Edit: well that was bad timing.

While Purdy was not his usual self, he made a few absolutely nails throws in that game - most importantly on the final drive. I expect a more Purdy-like performance against the Lions on Sunday. Beyond the injury to Deebo the biggest concern I have is the defense. In a couple of respects: (1) Playing Logan Ryan over Jayair Brown. Shanahan has this unhealthy obsession with "vet experience" over more talented younger players. Ryan is a big downgrade from Brown. (2) Tackling. Ever since the Eagles game this secondary has become enamored with shoulder hit tackles over wrapping up; and RBs and TEs are getting too many yards post contact.

Blood pressure back to normal (I actually checked this time) before I actually could get to sleep.

I have to say I am impressed with the team they have built, and more impressed with the fact that after Ed Debartolo had to divest the team and the Yorks finally gave the reins to someone who cares, they have completely assembled two incredibly good teams.
This is the second iteration of the Jed York era.

4 out of 5 NFCCG, and the one season they missed they could barely field a team with so many injuries. Plus 2 trips to the Super Bowl.

The Niners feel to me like the 10-1 Eagles did earlier this season. Yeah, you're getting the wins but the other teams are shooting themselves in the foot quite a bit. That said there are no pictures on Championship rings...

I'd say the difference is that's been kinds true for 2 games, while in the regular season the Niners were blowing everyone out and looking really solid. The Eagles were frauds for a lot of those 10 wins, not just 2 games.

That said, the Niners get pushed around by good OLs. Like, Purdy didn't even play that bad in the first half, they just never had the ball because the Lions were running at will behind that OL.
