I've heard nothing on Andre Johnson. But I've read he's going to take his time, which means considering other offers. Not good for #Colts.

Sure, we'd like to see #Colts lock up Andre Johnson now, but if you're the WR, it makes sense to check out Patriots, Seahawks.

Andre Johnson's first visit was with the Colts. 7 other teams interested. Taking it one day at a time I'm told sorting through things

I wish tweets like this would at the very least include the player position.  Do I really need to google Henry Hynoski?

Fullback type, IIRC

Nice.  I was just posting in the Roster 2015 thread about what Knighton could add and how his market might not be that big.  Its hard to see Seattle as a serious player given that they are only 10M under and still haven't extended Wilson yet (although they could cut Mebane and use some of that cap space on Knighton).  Baltimore also looks like a weird fit given that they have Brandon Williams at NT, also just drafted Timmy Jernigan, and only have about 9M in space and really need to address the WR position.  The Redskins have plenty of cap space and a need so I could see them offering him a big deal.  But maybe he doesn't want to play out the rest of his good years with a joke franchise, having experienced life with the Broncos.

@CharlesRobinson: The #Jets believe they are going to land cornerback Antonio Cromartie. Working out final details, but it's going to get done.

Jesus Christ, what are the Vikings doing?  They have a lot of cap room and aren't doing shit.

"Hey, we are mediocre and our star player is a total question mark right now.  Good news is, we have $25 Million in cap space. So, where should we start?"

"I think marginally upgrading our backup QB is a priority!"

"Get it done!"

I hope the entire Revis experience -- sign with Pats, re-establish value, win ring, leave for big $$$ -- inspires other talented vets around the NFL to do short-term deals with the Pats that fill key roles.

The Vikes have been following (the more successful) build around the draft model for the past couple of years. I believe it's working. They're a young team that isn't going to break the bank for an overpay on a top FA. They have a lot of young players that they'll be looking to lock up for the forseeable future. Harrison Smith this year. Rhodes, Floyd, (maybe) Patterson the year after that. They are hoping Teddy can become their QB of the future. They aren't one or two players away from being a championship team, they are one or two years away from being close to that. No reason to start mortgaging the future for Teddy's early years.

Like last year, they'll probably wait for the value guys to start dropping. Very similar to the Pats strategy. IMO they're being smart.

Even with the issues he has, I'm hoping this is how we get Harvin.  On a 1 year "prove it" deal.  I'd love to see him get some of the routes we gave to Vereen when he was split out.

@RapSheet: With some newfound cap space, Im told the #Saints are now in the mix for former #Bills RB CJ Spiller. Meanwhile, the #Cowboys lurk as well

@AdamSchefter: It's on: Cowboys free-agent RB DeMarco Murray is flying to Philadelphia to meet Eagles officials on Thursday, per league source.

That would make Mathews a pricey backup. And they still have Polk (cheap), in addition to Sproles.

If chip Kelly wants a talented, somewhat older and expensive running back, why didn't he just keep McCoy?
Dramatically different rushing styles.
Less money.
Smaller cap hit.
Kiko Alonso.

Murray is still going to be cheaper than McCoy and he's had experience flourishing in this very system at Oklahoma.

I get all of that; I'm just surprised to see him using (or attempting to use) a significant chunk of the freed up cap space on a running back.

A source to me on how Percy Harvin's visit with the #Bills: "His visit has been great. I know that he's very comfortable with us. I wouldn't be a surprise if he takes another visit and does his due diligence. I think there's a sentiment that there are some in Percy's camp that want him to play with a more experienced quarterback, but I believe we have some really good pieces here."

A source to me on what's important to Harvin after speaking with him. "A lot of people have lied to him and told Percy [Harvin] that when he plays on their team he will be a traditional wide receiver, but if you look over the course of his career that certainly hasn't always been the case. My understanding is that Percy wants to play the position full-time or get closer to that. He doesn't want to be the gadget guy all the time. He's grown tired of that. He wants to have a defined wide receiver role. I'm not saying he doesn't want to ever catch the ball out of the backfield again or run a bubble screen. He''l do whatever it takes to help the team win. I just think he wants to be respected as a traditional wide receiver threat."

With Ryan Mathews signing in Philly and Murray possibly also signing there, any chance they let Sproles go? Would be a nice Vereen replacement (as would Bush and Pierre Thomas as mentioned elsewhere).

Edit: or maybe they would take a late round pick for him?

Sound like Mathews may back out of that deal.  He hasn't signed anything yet.

What is up with that this year? Don't ever recall guys backing out in years past like Gore did. But in Mathews' case it actually makes some sense if Philly signs Murray. That said I don't think Mathews will get 3 / $10.5 elsewhere.

Right.  So he's going to go back to being coached by Rex, who was one of those coaches that used him as a gadget guy?

"Percy, we won't run that play where we had you catch the kickoff and try to throw to a guy that lied down in the endzone to hide.  I know this because the Bills uniforms aren't green, so it won't work."

/I know that's not what he meant by a "gadget play", but still.

It's remarkable that he's buying what Rex is selling, right? "Oh yeah Harvin, yeah last year when I was your head coach I used you for screens and at the line of scrimmage but next year, totally, whatever you see, it's all out-cuts, flags, and posts. And ignore the fact that we have Watkins and aren't going to be throwing the ball anyway. "

Is he buying what he is selling? I mean this sounds like someone lying to himself about how it went.

Oh yah he loves us and wants to sign, but refused to sign right away because he just wants to think about it for a second, but he is so going to sign.
