Is Bill Polian walking through that door?
Is Bill Belichick?
The only reason we were all genuflecting at Kraft's brilliance as an owner before #DFG is that he just so happens to have hired the best GM/coach in the history of the game who in turn lucked into having a 6th rd draft pick become the best QB in the history of the game. Kraft's best success since that single decision is that he hasn't fucked up what BB has built for him.
Any owner is only as good as the product he or she puts on the field. Shahid Khan may be the best owner in the history of the game in terms of smarts, temperament and marketing ability. But until the Jaguars put out the dumpster fire that has consumed their franchise for the last decade, he won't be recognized for a damn thing.
You can't say someone is a good owner because he hired a great GM – or a bad owner because he hired a bad one. There are only winning franchises and losing franchises. And for whatever reason—skill, luck, Luck—over the last 15 years the franchise that Jim Irsay has owned has won a lot in all but a single season.
Now if he makes another mistake after he fires Grigson, then we can talk. But until then the odds are that Jim Irsay is at least pretty good at his job.
