Different because he only had one series to play, but I'm not sure anything can top Bob Gibson in the '67 Series:  3 games, 3 complete games, 3 wins (Games 4 & 7 on 3-days rest).  27 IP, 3 ER, 26/5 K/BB ratio.
That is likely to remain unmatched ever.  What a phenomenal performance. Can you imagine in this day and age if he did that?

Well, he's 79; so I'm guessing it would be amazing

Ok so Yost left Herrera in too long.  What is the excuse for Davis?  They've seen him now.  Data shows that pitchers get more hittable as hitters get more looks at them.  That is what happened here.

Unless you're that Baumgarner guy

Up 5 (at least) why let Bumgarner pitch the 9th? Doesn't it make sense to replace him so he could come in in a possible Game 7?

Sometimes shitty hitters make contact?

You think the 10 or so pitches he throws in the 9th is going to make that much of a difference?

Well there's that too.  But the limited looks explain why Davis has been so amazing this season after being fairly pedestrian during the earlier (starting) part of his career.

I'd like to see the Royals make some noise here. That Giant dugout is too happy for a series that isn't close to being over.

So, the Royals won the one game they needed to win in SF to put the Series back on course ... and now play two at home w/o a chance of seeing Bumgarner again in a significant role

This is what Verlander was supposed to do in the post season, right? The Tigers have only beaten the As and MFYs in the playoffs in the last few years.
Bum's got a farm and a regular wife. Verlander's got, you know.

Royals are done. Even if they win Game 6, Bumgarner will be lurking in the pen for Game 7. KC already looks totally defeated because they can't hit this guy.

Yes.  I also think we'll see a seventh game unless Peavy somehow Leskanics it through Tuesday's start.

Bumgarner is a fucking beastmaster though.  Nobody can deny it.

With two days rest? For a guy who has NEVER even started a game on three days rest? Exactly how sharp do you expect him to be under those circumstances

He doesn't need to start. He just needs to come in as soon as Hudson gets into trouble. Basically Pedro vs. Cleveland in 1999. I expect similar results given how bad KC has looked against him. They look completely bewildered out there..

Yeah, but Pedro had about a week of rest after torquing his back after 4 innings in game 1.

Bumgarner is 25 years old. What a stud.

I can't see Peavy pulling a great outing out of his hat in Game 6, but we did just see Juan Perez nearly hit a hr v Wade Davis, so....

Edit: BTW, I cannot even imagine how much irrelevant 2002 talk we are going to hear over the next 2 days.
