Can you compile a list, in descending order, of annoying ways to score runs? Maybe make it a thread.
Scoring a run with out recording a hit is up there on the list and according to Tom, the Giants have 18 of those this postseason.

Isn't there some arcane rule that an outfielder has to reach into his glove and throw it to make it an out?

Yeah, wasn't it a Mets game a few years back. The OF with the ball in his glove was unconscious. His teammate pulled the ball out of his glove as runners circled the bases, so it was ruled not a catch.

How about scoring a run on an interference call where the runner trips over a fielder who is already on the ground, and also pushes him down in the process? That would bug me.

They do have a knack. The inning last night that did Vogelsong in was pretty annoying for Giants fans too.

Fox guys haven't picked up on Bum's snot rockets yet. Giants local guys mention them with a chuckle now and then.

He really gives zero fucks about blowing boogers in front of millions of people.

It's in MLB RUle 2.00, a "catch" by a fielder to record an out where the ball leaves the glove must have the release of the ball be voluntary and intentional.

Will cost too much. I would be fine with him on the sox if the price is right.

Makes sense, this way if it's lost when he hits the ground or otherwise gets knocked loose, it's not a catch.

Good question. Must be that his weight issues and lack of plate discipline bother them from April- August.
I hope the Sox give him strong consideration, in the 3-4 year contract range.

They aren't letting him walk per se but the guy carries a lot of risk including the fact that his weight varies by 30-40 pounds each season.  He is incredibly agile for his size but someone with his body-type is not a good bet to perform on the back-end of his next contract.  The Sox and Yanks are going to be in on him and SF knows that is a market they cannot match.

This Spring some word came out, supposedly from him or his agent, that he wanted 5/100. I haven't heard any words whatsoever from Giants management about the situation. People that follow the team have said that's too much though.

An updated version of the Vitorino contract (big $, shorter length) might be an interesting proposition for Panda if he believes in his physical status giving him another big bite at the the FA apple after 3-4 seasons.

I thought the Royals were supposed to be good at defense.

Re: Sandoval, we've covered him several times in various threads but know what you are getting with him - he looks great in this series and has been pretty good in the playoffs.  But the guy will drive a lot of Sox fans crazy with his lack of plate discipline.  He led MLB in O-swing% this season and was second last year...to beloved former Red Sox A.J. Pierzynski

The twist was what I mentioned upthread: the fielder who caught the ball was out cold. The baerunners were "tagging up" when his teammate came over, took the ball out of his glove to throw it in. It was ruled not a catch since the release was not intentional, though the ball never hit the ground.

Escobar screws up Ishikawa's hit with 2 outs, Crawford hits one off the end of the bat.

Yes, I got that- but since he was unconscious, removing the ball from his glove couldn't have been done intentionally by him
