Does this mean no more CSN in the morning? I love T&R but that sucks for me as I don't want to be forced to watch ESPN for highlights (or anything but live sports or 30 for 30 actually).

NESN still has their highlight show which is actually better for the a.m, IMO... only 20 minutes long. Plus Comcast rotates Sportsnet Central and Sports tonight in the morning... never understood why they do that since sports tonight is not a highlight show at all

I feel the same way. And I like that they ran Sports Tonight after Sportsnet Central.

Even though I like T&R, this is a bit of a loss in the Marzano household.

DVR the CSN shows during pre T&R hours, just do so after their program clock returns to normal after live events run over in primetime.  This way you can enjoy the best of both worlds.

I don't care for the NESN alternative, so this will be my plan.

Ever since Deflategate 2 switched into high gear, I've been watching "Leave it to Beaver" reruns in the morning.

I don't feel like I need another shower or an ear wash before I go to work anymore.

Fred's setup definitely doesn't work for TV. There's so much stuff in the way.

I know Fred always commented on how he's got his own work station / seat that no one else uses and you can tell why. I never realized he controlled so much of the show, I figured Rich did most of it. It's like he's running the space shuttle with the setup.

Not sure how i feel about the simulcast.

Edit: I'm not sure if Keefe's filled in for Wallach before, but he actually fits into the show pretty well. He can keep up with them and actually says something entertaining.

Edit 2: Looks like Fred was just surfing SoSH during the break when they came back.

As far as television goes, it's absolute crap.  As far as listening to radio on my TV, it's fantastic.  The morning hegemony of Quick Pitch and AJAM News has some company.

Critical problem one: Seen mostly in the taped promo, but Fred has a real hard time holding in a smile when he's supposed to be angry ranting.  Will be a dead giveaway.

Critical problem two: Whole new areas of Adolfo suckitude to explore now.  T&R are overdue to kick the chick out of the nest.

This doesn't strike me as a problem; I've always detected a "smirk" in his delivery. He's not going for the straight-faced Louis Black approach with those bits.

I like Keefe and Hook. It is cool kind of liking the guys who are talking about sports.
I  agree and this is the first time I've liked Keefe in anything, he works well with Fred and would be a great fit with Rich too I would bet.

Wallach's grown on me but I think Keefe would work better long term.

FYI--T&R had Sally Jenkins on this morning, I only caught a bit of it in the car before I had to head into work but I'm sure they'll post the full interview later today.

These guys are usually good at getting something good when nothing is going on but in my opinion this week has just been terrible. I usually don't mind Adolfo as much as others in small doeses now and again but there's been so much this week and none of it is funny. And Fred ranting against the PC police supporting Schilling of all people while at the same time calling him a moron for posting his crap. I'm still not sure what his point was. Football and especially hockey season can't come soon enough.

-His point was that Schillings a moron, ESPN knows he's a moron, he says stupid shit all the time online, doesn't mean he should be fired.
-The PC Police's latest thing is calling for people in the media's job when they do anything, which sucks if you are in the media.
-Schilling shouldn't have to apologize. The fake apology thing is another thing to make the PC Police happy. He was happy Schilling didn't apologize he just said "I understand why they did it"

In other news, today's Red Necks segment with the guy with the human leg in the smoker was fantastic.

Bert Breer being naive and a little ridiculous, downplaying Mort's original report about "2 pounds PSI" and doing a nice spin job for Mort's claim that the Krafts apology to him. An interesting contrast - to say the least - to Florio's blasting of Mort on D&C.

Yeah but Rich thinks True Romance is a better movie than the fuckin Godfather so would you really WANT 8 hours of that?
What are we talking about? Cinematography? Screenplay? Acting? Enjoyment? Because, yea, I'd rather, right now, watch True Romance over the Godfather, if I wanted to be entertained.

I'm right with the both of you.  True Romance is one of the 2 or 3 movies I will always stop and watch whenever it's on TV all the way through from wherever it's at.  Godfather is a great movie, but I've probably only been able to sit through it once or twice.

How the hell have I never heard of this movie? I thought it was a chick flick, but then I Rotten Tomatoed the thing. Damn, what a cast.

Watch it tonight, late at night, with a bottle of whiskey or good beer. You won't regret it.

That was exactly my thoughts when my college roommate wanted to watch it. Glad I was wrong.

Not infrequently, TFP floors me with his wisdom.

I swear to god if I didn't know better I'd assume he was some kind of Gandald morherfucker stroling his beard in his study and shit.

With a tumbler of whiskey by his arm. Of course.

By the way, I'm by no means saying True Romance is not a good film. Its a great film. But its not the Godfather.

I'm in this camp. I saw true romance in the theater, have seen it 15+ times since (hate the Tony Scott ending every time), and I will watch it whenever it is on. It's not the godfather.

Absolutely brutal radio today.  Beware.
Yeah.

However bad/boring/pointless it is to discuss deflated footballs and supposed conspiracies against the Pats, it is a million times worse radio, to rant about how bad and boring and pointless it would be to discuss the thing you're not discussing. That was one of the worst things D+C used to do in the bad old days, especially when they would go on a tear about how hockey was not a major sport and wasn't worth talking about. Either talk about it or don't, but for crying out loud, do NOT do a talk radio show about what you're not talking about.

The moratorium was fine, although D+C (in a rare display) actually made a lot of great radio out of deflategate. But spending a segment or a show arguing about whether a topic is worth discussing makes for an absolute dumpster fire of talk radio. Boo.

There's a line that Toucher walks. When he's on the "This is silly, I'm gonna make fun of it" side, it's good radio. When he's on the whiny "No one cares" side of the line, it's awful radio. People do care, even if Toucher doesn't.

I agree that Fred was being a total douche this morning. He kept accusing Pats fans of being ridiculous and having a "victim complex" because they were upset about ESPN's Spygate hit piece, especially now that the season was about to start and there was "real football" to talk about.  My problems with Fred on this:

  1. It was ESPN that chose the timing by dropping this incendiary 11,000-word bomb on the Patriots and their fans immediately before the season started. The DFG related stuff had actually started to die down a little bit after Berman's ruling last week, until ESPN smacked the hornet's nest by grunting out this enormous piece of turd on Tuesday.
  2. Being upset about the ESPN hit piece and also excited about the start of football season are not mutually exclusive. Most Patriots fans, believe it or not, can also walk and chew gum at the same time.
  3. Regardless of what you thought about the Spygate piece, ESPN's decision to edit Mike Reiss' blog to remove mild criticism of it is a true outrage and certainly a worthy topic for discussion.

no it wasn't.  I wanted to hear about the game, I didn't care about the drunken tweets/video, at all, but they weren't funny regardless.
