What has happened to his 3-point shooting? He's playing 32 mins/game this year, but only taking 2.4 3s. I haven't watched Charlotte at all, so no clue what's going on there.
Even if you were watching Charlotte you would have no idea what is going on

Obvious but it's all health with them now. They're going to field a G-league team tonight against Dallas (I'm assuming Brunson will be resting his turned ankle), and not because of outgoing players in this trade, but because they have their top 4 players all out, 2 of which will probably have offseason surgery and another recovering from major ankle surgery. They could easily tire out or lose remaining players with Thibs riding them that much harder to fill minutes.

With everybody healthy, they should be in a dogfight for the #2 seed, but at this point that is starting to seem unlikely.

Edit: G-league probably an exaggeration, but it's a role player squad of Achiuwa, Hartenstein, DiVincenzo, and Hart at this point.
It’s not that far from it when you look at who they have put on the floor with the second unit. NBA teams are falling by the wayside at levels we’ve never seen before at this stage of the season. Knicks, Sixers, Grizzlies….wtf is going on with these injuries and training/conditioning staffs?

Why in the world would they buy out a guy they just traded value for?
Perhaps the value was for Abaji. But that said, if Toronto didn't want KO, they would flip him off to a 3rd team, and get value back

Hield has been very available for most of his career--but he is also one of the best shooters in NBA history and I think he'd fit really well playing off of Joel, similar to how well Reddick and Seth Curry played when they were in Philly. I would be worried about his fit defensively, would seem hard to play Hield and Maxey during a playoff series.

Raptors really need to rebuild but man they LOVE shuffling the deck chairs around. What on earth are they doing?

The NBA equivalent of the kid that started out with a paper clip and ended up with a Ferrari or something?

Schroder was complaining about role/minutes so dumping him is a plus regardless of return.

And then made their way all the way back to a paperclip.

Honestly the Raptors are a case of selling out for 1 year with a player who didn't want to be there, getting a bunch of luck in that one year, then doing nothing since. They were serious contenders one time in more than a decade.

I think OKC is looking for him to be more of a connector than a difference maker but it will be interesting to see how he fits in given all of the other guys in OKC who will have the ball/shots.

OKC also has to figure out how to keep on the court once he comes back (he hasn't played since late December). But low-risk move for OKC.

But I'm glad Gordon went to OKC and not some other contender (PHI, if Embiid came back).
That is a good way to look at it. They don’t necessarily need his scoring so he can facilitate, play defense and help to spread the floor a bit.

We have a fairly large sample size of moves from Ujiri to suggest that he doesn’t really care about asset accumulation or the life cycle of a team and just wants to find players that fit together.

Brad undefeated (and I would have been in favor of matching Grant on the MLE).

PJ is a good pickup for Dallas. Dallas was a bad fit for Grant, too many shit heads that he fit in perfectly with (which meant poorly).

This is a bit harsh, although I may be reading it in the wrong light. From 2014-2020 (7 seasons), they averaged just over 54 wins per year and made it to the 2nd round or further 5 times. They basically got as far as you can consistently get without a legit top 10 player, which they didn't have other than one season with Kawhi. People used to say that Jordan forced a generation of NBA stars to retire without rings, well Lebron forced a generation of EC teams into extinction with his 8 straight EC titles, and the Raptors may have been the biggest (he beat them three straight years from 2016-2018, going 12-2).

It hasn't been great since 2020 (I'm not sure what Scottie Barnes ends up becoming), but they did pretty solid work before Kawhi arrived.

Grant Williams is the headline, but CHA is really clearing out the cobwebs here. Washington, Rozier and Hayward had played a combined 14 years in Charlotte before being shipped out. Not a bad move for a team that hasn't made the playoffs since Obama, and hasn't been remotely relevant in the current iteration of the franchise.

The Mavs gave up a 2027 1st round pick (barely protected) to swap Grant Williams for PJ Washington...I think they can go on a run this spring, and thought so before this trade actually. This feels like an insane amount of downside for marginal upside, regardless of how bad Grant has been.

editL Luka can decline his player option in 2026 and opt out. They now can only offer swaps, and not full trades, of their 26 and 28 draft picks. I have no idea if Luka wants to stay in Dallas or not, maybe he's all about it, but even if that was true giving away an asset like this for a move that to me doesn't particularly move the needle feels not great.

People tend to play worse around Luka and better when they move on.

Yeah...I thought this was a really good trade because I assumed the 2027 pick would be heavily protected (basically a pick in the 23-30 range). Only light protection on it seems incredibly risky, and I like PJ Washington a good amount

Williams was a terrible signing at the time. And he has been awful there. I am not sure Washington is that much better, but he can't be worse

I agree. I like PJ, but that's a hefty price for the upgrade.

Royce O'Neal a good pickup for Suns for what feels like a fair price - his shooting makes him more valuable for many teams than Tillman, for example.

Where are the Pelicans at the deadline? I've been pro-David Griffin but if he sits out this deadline, I'm going to be questioning that.

Why was Grant a terrible signing at the time? It was pretty much universally agreed that he was a good get at that salary

The refs in Bucks games are going to get a workout between Giannis's newfound boisterousness and PatBev.

The Bulls standing pat may be even more outrageous than the Pels doing so.
