Even if you were watching Charlotte you would have no idea what is going onWhat has happened to his 3-point shooting? He's playing 32 mins/game this year, but only taking 2.4 3s. I haven't watched Charlotte at all, so no clue what's going on there.
It’s not that far from it when you look at who they have put on the floor with the second unit. NBA teams are falling by the wayside at levels we’ve never seen before at this stage of the season. Knicks, Sixers, Grizzlies….wtf is going on with these injuries and training/conditioning staffs?Obvious but it's all health with them now. They're going to field a G-league team tonight against Dallas (I'm assuming Brunson will be resting his turned ankle), and not because of outgoing players in this trade, but because they have their top 4 players all out, 2 of which will probably have offseason surgery and another recovering from major ankle surgery. They could easily tire out or lose remaining players with Thibs riding them that much harder to fill minutes.
With everybody healthy, they should be in a dogfight for the #2 seed, but at this point that is starting to seem unlikely.
Edit: G-league probably an exaggeration, but it's a role player squad of Achiuwa, Hartenstein, DiVincenzo, and Hart at this point.
Hornets apparently also get Vasilije Micic and some draft compensation. That's a really nice deal for Charlotte.
Why in the world would they buy out a guy they just traded value for?Any chance Toronto buys him out?
They gave up a first rounder for him, so no?Any chance Toronto buys him out?
Perhaps the value was for Abaji. But that said, if Toronto didn't want KO, they would flip him off to a 3rd team, and get value backWhy in the world would they buy out a guy they just traded value for?
George McFly looking for his density?I’m picturing Brad sitting there, drinking a full glass of milk to fuel up for the last couple of hours.
Not OJ?I’m picturing Brad sitting there, drinking a full glass of milk to fuel up for the last couple of hours.
There have been rumors for months that Toronto loves Olynyk and wanted to acquire him. I think they plan on re-signing him this summer.Any chance Toronto buys him out?
The NBA equivalent of the kid that started out with a paper clip and ended up with a Ferrari or something?Raptors really need to rebuild but man they LOVE shuffling the deck chairs around. What on earth are they doing?
And then made their way all the way back to a paperclip. The NBA equivalent of the kid that started out with a paper clip and ended up with a Ferrari or something?
That is a good way to look at it. They don’t necessarily need his scoring so he can facilitate, play defense and help to spread the floor a bit.I think OKC is looking for him to be more of a connector than a difference maker but it will be interesting to see how he fits in given all of the other guys in OKC who will have the ball/shots.
OKC also has to figure out how to keep on the court once he comes back (he hasn't played since late December). But low-risk move for OKC.
But I'm glad Gordon went to OKC and not some other contender (PHI, if Embiid came back).
We have a fairly large sample size of moves from Ujiri to suggest that he doesn’t really care about asset accumulation or the life cycle of a team and just wants to find players that fit together.Raptors really need to rebuild but man they LOVE shuffling the deck chairs around. What on earth are they doing?

This is a talent upgrade for Toronto and they get to rent before buying which gives them decent roster options heading into next season. I don't hate this deal for them.
This is a bit harsh, although I may be reading it in the wrong light. From 2014-2020 (7 seasons), they averaged just over 54 wins per year and made it to the 2nd round or further 5 times. They basically got as far as you can consistently get without a legit top 10 player, which they didn't have other than one season with Kawhi. People used to say that Jordan forced a generation of NBA stars to retire without rings, well Lebron forced a generation of EC teams into extinction with his 8 straight EC titles, and the Raptors may have been the biggest (he beat them three straight years from 2016-2018, going 12-2).And then made their way all the way back to a paperclip.
Honestly the Raptors are a case of selling out for 1 year with a player who didn't want to be there, getting a bunch of luck in that one year, then doing nothing since. They were serious contenders one time in more than a decade.
Grant Williams is the headline, but CHA is really clearing out the cobwebs here. Washington, Rozier and Hayward had played a combined 14 years in Charlotte before being shipped out. Not a bad move for a team that hasn't made the playoffs since Obama, and hasn't been remotely relevant in the current iteration of the franchise.Grant Williams has been dumped.

I think the Warriors are going to stand pat unless they decide to move Moody. I think their plan is to get into the play-in and shock the world (not a plan I endorse).Dubs and Lakers still quiet.
People tend to play worse around Luka and better when they move on.The Mavs gave up a 2027 1st round pick (barely protected) to swap Grant Williams for PJ Washington...I think they can go on a run this spring, and thought so before this trade actually. This feels like an insane amount of downside for marginal upside, regardless of how bad Grant has been.
Yeah...I thought this was a really good trade because I assumed the 2027 pick would be heavily protected (basically a pick in the 23-30 range). Only light protection on it seems incredibly risky, and I like PJ Washington a good amountThe Mavs gave up a 2027 1st round pick (barely protected) to swap Grant Williams for PJ Washington...I think they can go on a run this spring, and thought so before this trade actually. Williams was a terrible signing at the time. And he has been awful there. I am not sure Washington is that much better, but he can't be worseThe Mavs gave up a 2027 1st round pick (barely protected) to swap Grant Williams for PJ Washington...I think they can go on a run this spring, and thought so before this trade actually. Never forget: GW was ranked 97th on a list of top 100 players by ESPN that didn't have Derrick White on it at all.Williams was a terrible signing at the time. And he has been awful there. I am not sure Washington is that much better, but he can't be worse
I agree. I like PJ, but that's a hefty price for the upgrade. The Mavs gave up a 2027 1st round pick (barely protected) to swap Grant Williams for PJ Washington...I think they can go on a run this spring, and thought so before this trade actually. Why was Grant a terrible signing at the time? It was pretty much universally agreed that he was a good get at that salaryWilliams was a terrible signing at the time. And he has been awful there. I am not sure Washington is that much better, but he can't be worse
The Heat also. I'll be shocked/relieved if they stay quiet for the next 75 minutes.Dubs and Lakers still quiet.
