10 years ago today, Mike and Mad Dog had what I thought was their best radio ever - recapping the 2004 ALCS. In the first 15 minutes of the show, they perfectly recapped the series, the immediate ramifications, and what that defeat meant long term for the Yankees and the rivalry. Love this quiz. Great stuff. I've been a listener since WFAN started and Mike's show with this other host was really great radio and got me listening to Francesa. It wasn't on for very long before the Mike and Dog pairing. One nitpick...ifmanis5 said:

I had forgotten all about Doris! Did she die? My favorite caller ever, by far, was Vinnie from Queens. It could be the day before the Super Bowl and he'd call in questioning some potential Yankee trade. He was an intelligent baseball caller, always entertaining. And Buster Olney is definitely right about Coleman and the Soul Man. But I disagree with his conclusion. I thought Dave Simms was awful. Always have liked Eddie Coleman, though.

and they played the Blues Brothers version of I'm a Soul Man as the open. Sims was an add on after Mike left as I recall.

Mike & Eddie had a mid day show before Mike & Mad Dog but it wasn't called Coleman and the soul man. That was with Simms.
As great as the post mortem show it, the day of game 7 is three hours of just awesome radio. They did a live remote from the Stadium and had every guest imaginable on talking about the significance of the game. Mike uttered the now famous "not on this day" line and Dog was gleeful all day.

Huh? Why would Big Ben the Rapist need a change of scenery and why would the Steelers trade him? What would the Jets have to offer the Steelers in trade? Giving up a high first round pick to the Steelers would be counter productive.
Francesa had the Jets (-3) today, and made a point of saying he never picks them but today was a statement game for the franchise. So he has a platform from which to go on them tomorrow. It should be fun.
Mike had the theory that the Jets rushed Sanchez to starter too soon. I'd expect he'll say the same about Geno and then also say that 'the Jets keep doing this' and add that the franchise needs a restart with fresh eyes. Which it probably does.
