As a couple other posters said, if the Broncos had won 43-21, the game would matter. Mike is loathe to ever give any credit to the Pats and Belichick. He likes Brady but he loves Manning. The fact that he is bringing up passing yards and talking about bounces just shows that he is grasping at straws trying to find excuses for Manning as usual.

Its funny, he's had more horse racing calls than Pats calls.

He made a quick Pats reference re: play-offs and HFA, and said the Broncos can win at Foxboro but they'd rather play at home.

It's a "tough one for me" because he hearts Coughlin so much.  At least he is honest about that.

"They are not a playoff team."

"They need an infusion of talent."

and there it is: (paraphrase)

"unless you want to commit to Coughlin for 3-4 years, and rebuild with him you should let him go after the year, with class and dignity he deserves."

He is absolutely terrified of Coughlin going out as a joke.  Knowing his audience, he understands that is quite possible

The Giants should hang in there with Grampa as if they stay true to form, they'll finish 8-8 next year, win the division and get to and win another Super Bowl as they're on that "get to and win a Super Bowl every four years" plan.

Does he have a patent on that "Stand there with his hands on his hips and a WTF is going on out there" look on his face by the way, he's got it down to a science and should if he doesn't.

It's such a joke that he doesn't kill the Giants after a game like last night. It was a non-competitive game from the start and was 40-10 at one point. If that was the Jets, you'd hear how dysfunctional they are, Rex has to go, etc. but he mentions how hard they played and how great Luck is. It's clear how much of a hard on he has for Tom and the Giants.

Yup. And if Russo was there he'd press him: "Mike, the Giants stink."

He just likes Coughlin too much. He really isn't that big of a Giant fan like he is with the MFYs. Someone called in yesterday and asked who he was rooting for in last night's game. The Giants or the Colts with Luck and he said it was a good question and he said he would probably just sit back and just watch the game.

I remember his tone was similar to this even as it was going down--he tried to stake out the "MLB was criminal too!" ground and the "we don't know for sure" stance. Callers were slowly picking away at the bullshit he was slinging, and I think slowly but surely started hearing himself and it turned abruptly to "I don't want to keep doing Arod calls all day, OK?" implying that everyone calling was just another raving internet witch-hunter and it was beneath him to continue addressing it.

This is how he acts when he knows he was wrong.

Michael Kay unloaded on FF today.

Edit -- just noticed there is a separate thread for this.  Sorry about that.

Crap, I missed that broadcast. If anyone here happened to save it to their hard drive, I'd be indebted for a share.

Please drop me a PM if you have it. Thanks in advance.

"Rex and Izdik are going to the guillotine."

That is proving a spacious, convenient and comfortable cave with arrows coming his way and the Giants' mess.

The caller, "Mike from Montclair" is a regular with whom Mike has a like/disdain relationship with. But FF respects him I get the feelings at time, certain calls are arranged so FF can deliver his take. This time, "I never respond to that stuff, those guys are so far behind me they're not in the rear-view mirror. I was #1 with Dog, #1  now"...

He's also full of it. Says he never says names. But he absolutely called out Kay just didn't use his name by saying YES just wanted to be able to control the show

From today's Daily News:

Just over a week ago, according to well-embedded moles, Mike Francesa and FAN boss Mark (Cardinal) Chernoff argued when Francesa indicated he does not want to go to Arizona to do a week of sermons during the run-up to Super Bowl XLIX.

We cannot report if the Cardinal, who obviously wants his afternoon-drive Gasbag at the Supe Site, offered to send a portable balcony to Arizona. Or the Pope Mobile, so the All-Knowing One can cruise around the desert.

Still, according to our spies, the animated argument (one snoop claimed it was a “screaming match”) did include some threats.

Guess we will find out how this lovely conversation turned out when Super Bowl week rolls around.

Francesa addressed this just now...says it's totally erroneous...however he did add that about a month ago he and Chernoff (his boss) did have a heated argument but it wasn't about this...and that he hasn't spoken to management since then.  Also announced that he told FAN that he will not be traveling to the Super Bowl this year...

I'm old and lazy, but SB in AZ in February doesn't sound too bad.

Sounds like an interesting decision blow-off boss and ratings, and maybe Fox Sports1, in probably a key week for ratings.

btw I listened off/on this AM, and camie in on the tail-end of some comments about ranking team's SB dominance, did he say  something that the Pats did not rank highly? Or an I overly sensitive to FFs dismissive attitude towards the Pats.
And yes these are not necessarily mutually exclusive possibilities.

Yeah I was working today and missed the show. How did he disrespect the Pats yet again?

Life is just fucking with Mike now. Jets beat Steelers; Giants down by 14

edit:

Now in the books. Per Buck and Aikman, giants allowed 346 rushing yards, the most since 1978.

Was that Fewell laughing his ass off on the sidelines - what was the stat, 4 straight games giving up 400+ yards?!

Mike needs to get real. What a week for him between this and A-Rod..

"Eli and Tom have had a heck of a run, but it looks like it's coming to a close ... We always thought Eli would be here later ... if the Giants make a change now, I cannot say a word."

This is killing him.... I think he is closer to Coughlin than anyone, including Parcells, because he has had his beefs with Parcells.

He's got a point with the Jets.  They only scored 3 points after the 1st quarter.  This speaks to how horribly the Steelers played yesterday than some wire-to-wire dominant performance by the Jets.  Hell, they gave up an 80 yd TD with less than 2 minutes left.  That can't happen.

He's also being fair with Giants.  They have been abominable for most of the last 3 years, in his view, with tons of lopsided defeats and non-competitive games.

He clearly would not bring Coughlin back, thinks he's too old.

The only thing lacking in these harsh statements is the tone of ridicule he reserves for the Jets.
