He also knows that the Eagles looked and are very good. As are the Cowboys. The Giants are mediocre but promising this year. I hope the Thanksgiving Day game between the Cowboys and Eagles is as good as it projects to be.
Speaking of losing grip on his wheelhouse, the media ...
Did not know until caller told him of the London requirement for teams wanting to host a SB. Was borderline dismissive of caller, his producer obviously found the report, then no credit given to caller
Meat cleaver out for the Jets -- it's as bad as it could possibly be, no faith in Izdik to rebuild, the only one happy is Woody cause he is saving money.
Yep, he's playing the "owner is cheap" card we Boston fans are familiar with.
That was certainly NOT his tune as recently as last week when the Giants were on a 3-game win streak. He's just damage controlling for his boy Tommy.
Also, yes, the Jets have more cap space than the Giants but the actually money being paid out in salary isn't that different. Unless my Google skills are off.
I never got the impression he was high on the Giants this year. And last week was very wary of the next 6 games. Philly, Dallas, Indy, Seattle San Fran and Dallas. Said they had to find away to split those games
But he said it twice!! He usually repeats his mistakes at least 5 times (per segment - I only listen to the first segment - not mentally possible for me to listen to him repeat the same things for 5 hours.
Plus he said the 58 YD FG was a 1 in 50 shot!!
from the positive standpoint, he is the only NY guy that mentions the bad calls against both teams.
Boomer & Carton acted like ONLY the Jets had drops, ONLY the the Jets had bad calls go against them
SO fixated on the non-call on Revis - but NO mention of the absurd call against Browner
You've got to wonder at what point Fox Sports 1 punts on the simulcast. How many times can you have a guy on your network complaining about the network (Bill Simmons excepted).
“But I’d take less and put it on every day, but I can’t do anything about it.”
No gel today. He used to dye his hair for many years but he stopped. That is a no gel/wet down look that is out of the norm fro him. Maybe Roe forgot to go to the store?
"I just hope they handle it in a classy way. Tom gets to go out on his own terms; he's earned that. But that does not mean he gets to stay as long as he wants."
Giants ownership should be able to gauge if Coughlin is still sharp. If he is, I see no reason to fire him. Coughlin gets so much shit from the media for a guy who won 2 SBs in the last ten years.
10 years ago today, Mike and Mad Dog had what I thought was their best radio ever - recapping the 2004 ALCS. In the first 15 minutes of the show, they perfectly recapped the series, the immediate ramifications, and what that defeat meant long term for the Yankees and the rivalry. I've always loved Mike's simple description of game 7 as a Yankees fan: "That was a mugging with an audience".

Love this quiz. Great stuff. I've been a listener since WFAN started and Mike's show with this other host was really great radio and got me listening to Francesa. It wasn't on for very long before the Mike and Dog pairing. One nitpick...
Coleman and Soul Man was not Mike and Eddie C., but was a name referring to the Eddie Coleman and Dave Simms. If I'm not mistaken, Imus came up with the name. Also a very good show. Amazing how much talent FAN had back in the day.
I had forgotten all about Doris! Did she die? My favorite caller ever, by far, was Vinnie from Queens. It could be the day before the Super Bowl and he'd call in questioning some potential Yankee trade. He was an intelligent baseball caller, always entertaining. And Buster Olney is definitely right about Coleman and the Soul Man. But I disagree with his conclusion. I thought Dave Simms was awful. Always have liked Eddie Coleman, though.
And is anyone more consistently pretentious than Al from White Plains, who also is a regular caller on the MLB network----but he is a pretty knowledgeable Cardinal fan.
As great as the post mortem show it, the day of game 7 is three hours of just awesome radio. They did a live remote from the Stadium and had every guest imaginable on talking about the significance of the game. Mike uttered the now famous "not on this day" line and Dog was gleeful all day.
I wonder what day drew their largest ever audience. Maybe subway WS?

Huh? Why would Big Ben the Rapist need a change of scenery and why would the Steelers trade him? What would the Jets have to offer the Steelers in trade? Giving up a high first round pick to the Steelers would be counter productive.
Francesa had the Jets (-3) today, and made a point of saying he never picks them but today was a statement game for the franchise. So he has a platform from which to go on them tomorrow. It should be fun.
Mike had the theory that the Jets rushed Sanchez to starter too soon. I'd expect he'll say the same about Geno and then also say that 'the Jets keep doing this' and add that the franchise needs a restart with fresh eyes. Which it probably does.

My weeks are running together, but he said this about Big Ben last week or the week before. Ben run his course in Pitts, everyone would benefit from "change in scenery."
