Unfortunately I think it all ties together in the way the NFL will handle the leaks and the press. Remember things are already coming out that manning is a good guy and people defending him left and right. The claims might be BS but what it will more or less show is that ESPN is hypocritical when this affects their golden boy. I don't think Brunell is going to be crying when asked about it. HGH is good as is deer spray but supposed football tampering had.
The wording says it all. Not, 'I believe Peyton Manning,"--as if there's anything to go on one way or another at this point--it's "I believe in Peyton Manning." Unfortunately, 99% of sports "journalists" bring the same infantile worldview to their jobs.

The thing is, he has my respect whether he did HGH or not. My opinion is that Manning is one of the 3 best quarterbacks to ever play the game, and that won't change. It's just fun to see the press in general going all kiddy gloves on this story after a year+ of Brady bashing for maybe possibly being generally aware of a ball deflation scheme that may or may not have happened.
Peyton Manning has been an arrogant, entitled (and protected) idiot going back to his days at Tennesee. He has proven to be willing to lie and slander others to avoid having to face the consequences of his own behavior and it is a matter of public record that he's damaged the lives/careers of innocent people to protect himself.
Ah, the Ray Lewis Effect. The difference there is that Lewis had already been hired by ESPN when the Deer Antler story broke, as I recall. I'm not sure I see Peyton doing this sort of gig, maybe he'll go the Elway route, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's a factor in coverage nonetheless. Networks can dream.
He hadn't even finished his season yet, let alone retire and go to ESPN. It came out during the playoffs his final season.
Yes, I think you are the only one thinking this. Recall Manning throwing every player(but himself) under the bus after every playoff loss. Recall Manning being entitled from the moment he donned a football helmet. Recall his "aw shucks" demeanor and everyman "attitude", despite being a pampered and petulant player.

Right, but he announced it was his last season well in advance and I believe he had already worked out a deal with ESPN for his future services. I will do some investigative journalism on this...
There will be plenty of tacit and explicit discounting of the story because it came from the Ayy-raaab Mooooslim turrurists.
Why would they? All the heat is on Peyton for being the "big name" in the report. Let the story live or die with him for now because if it can't get traction with Peyton, they're all home free.
