I started down this absurd path by reading a bit about a small cohort of the biggest slave owners. The Manning governor figures prominently in any overview of the big Antebellum plantations. And then that Medium story just says it is so (the Manning-to-Manning family line) as though it is such an establish fact that citing his work is unnecessary. But since I was not seeing it, and I wasn't primarily looking for it anyway, I thought I'd ask here.

It's time for the truth about the Manning family to be told. What was their relationship to John Wilkes Booth? How did they collaborate with the Axis during World War II? Why did Buddy Manning meet with Lee Harvey Oswald during his time in the American south? How much money did they launder through Papa Johns? What is their relationship to Putin? Why haven't they condemned the invasion of Ukraine?
It's also going to take a lot to convince me that they weren't bankrolling Chelsea Manning's Wikileaks espionage. There's a real story there for some enterprising young journalist.
