Holy shit. Should've paid David Price insteadI knew his contract was awful but I just looked at it to remind myself:
2016 $21.67M
2017 $28.167M
2018 $28.167M
2019 $22.5M
2020 $23.5M
2021 $23.5M
2022 $24.5M
2023 $24.5M
He has various opt-out clauses in there but I'm going to go on the assumption that he won't be exercising those.
Magic Johnson must have given him some pre game tips. Or, he went to dinner with Bobby Valentine last night.Everything Roberts has done in this game is perplexing.
Hope Kershaw can go 9 Saturday, and then start Jansen Sunday?LA can't score. I don't think they can count on two shutouts in Chicago this weekend, but it may be what they need.
We're almost there. The lineup isn't going to matter if the pitching staff gives up 10 again
Stripling still terribleI wuz wrong, Stripling was terrible, not Fields.
I definitely thought about this at the time as well.Late to the party but why wasn't Jansen used in the 8th to try and keep it at 3-1? Then see if anything materializes bottom 8 off Chapman. Chapman hasn't been as good in 6-out save situations. Tomorrow is an off day so Jansen would be available for game 6. Anyone else wondering about this?
Agreed. When someone proves they can win in Boston you gotta pay extra for it. I try not to think about it but it really bugs me that Lester isn't going to retire as a Red Sox.I know this is just sour grapes but between Lester and Miller I at least hope the Red Sox have learned something this post season. Sometimes that shiny new toy you want isn't as good as what you already have.
I hated the trade when it happened and I hate it still. Good luck to Jon Lester in search of his third ring.
It's even worse when you consider that John Henry could've/should've resolved the Lucchino vs. Epstein feud by pushing Larry up and out and giving Theo complete control of the baseball operations, which almost certainly would have led to Tito cementing his status in the dugout as Red Sox manager-for-life. No way Lester is insulted with 4/$70 if those two were still on Yawkey Way.I know this is just sour grapes but between Lester and Miller I at least hope the Red Sox have learned something this post season. I'm sure the pissants at Sons of Jody Davis are lovable. Stick with them. No, totally hated and worse than Yankees fans these days. This board is loaded with pissants falling all over themselves to root against the Cubs, some even noting they think it would devalue what the Red Sox accomplished in 2004. Screw those people.
I'm on my way to watch the game with friends and 2003 won't leave the back of my mind. It's agonizing. I recall that pain so vividly and remember the empathy I felt for Red Sox fans that year. I was so excited for all of you the next year. What happened was so amazing and I can only imagine how gratifying. Perhaps someday (soon with any luck) I will feel it, too. Until then, though, I'll just feed on the hate I feel every time one of you hopes I never feel that joy.
Anyway, go Cubs! I must hope that somehow Kershaw is hittable tonight.
Feels like lightning striking twice in the same place to me.Imagine if another Bartman incident happens tonight
Is it ok to not hate the Cubs but root for the Dodgers? No, totally hated and worse than Yankees fans these days.
