Game 1 Saturday 8PM ET at Wrigley
Jon Lester v. probably Kenta Maeda. With Jansen most likely unavailable.

California. Duh.
Game 1 is going to be extremely rough for the Dodgers as they recover from the NLDS, but in truth they are terrible against lefties and would have a tough time against Lester even fully rested. If the Dodgers somehow steal that one, it will be very surprising.

It's sort of the ultimate reverse lock.

I'll keep saying it until someone proves me right or wrong, but if I were Roberts, I'd bunt and steal like crazy against Lester. I genuinely don't get why teams don't do this while he legitimately cannot throw to a base. For me, this has nothing to do with my rooting interests. I just think it's sort of fascinating baseball strategy in a very unique situation.

I'm with you! Geeeez. Bunt the damn ball.
This is like the poster who suggested Farrell might not try to hard to beat Tito cuz they were pals.
This is what ESPN Glanville said about the Lester opportunity:

“We talk about unwritten rules and baseball it’s funny like that because it’s one of those scenarios where you look across the diamond and yes that’s your opponent and yes as a competitor you want to beat the other guy, but there’s also the family. A lot of these guys you’ve played with if you’ve played long enough. A lot of these guys are in the same boat as you are. You’re dealing with the same challenges and when it comes down to kicking a man when he’s down there’s a little bit of hesitation there because you’re right, you could run Lester completely out of the stadium and you just make him, force him to do different things. Maybe an underhand toss and all these things, or maybe he steps off and he chases you down, but you know he has throwing issues. So, of course if you’re going for the dagger this is a guy every time you get on first base you run. So, does it mean you’re not trying to win? No, but certainly more teams could’ve taken more advantage of Jon Lester and the throwing challenges.”

(Doug Glanville)

AMAZING.

Tito should have stopped his pitchers from throwing 12-6 curveballs to JBJ last week.
Actually, it was reported that Tito got JBJ out with increased fastballs!!Red Sox Stats ‏@redsoxstats Oct 12
  1. Indians advanced scouting:
Leon got 26% less fastballs (42%)
Bogaerts got 27% less fastballs (38%)
JBJ got a 33% increase in fastballs (68%)

    AND,
The batters that have seen the lowest percentage of fastballs this postseason:
  2. Bryant 39%,
  3. Lindor 38%,
  4. Bogaerts 38%, (this made me feel better!!)
  5. Seager 38%

After tonight's game in Cleveland, mlbn said that the Indians are throwing a high percentage of breaking balls to the BlueJays, which makes sense.
As for running on Lester, agree that the Dodgers need to figure out how to get on base. If Dave Roberts can steal 2nd on Rivera/Posada, he certainly understands how to teach his guys to run on Lester.

Maybe for the seventh inning stretch, they can read Casey at the Bat and bring out a goat.

He wanted to switch words around in a way that made sense only to him. But everyone would still applaud raucously.
And pair-ohh-luss isn't even a word.

And why the fuck do we call the flag "the colors". It's a fucking baseball game. We're not looking for fucking pirates on the fucking high seas.

I'm already pissed at everything about this game.

I'm trying to come to grips with the "lovable losers" who won the most games in baseball this season

I read that on Farmers Only
You lie. I followed the rules to the letter. They said, very clearly, "ain't don't put down nothing on your profile that sounds Mexican." I put "wheat" and "Charlie Daniels Band" for everything.

I wonder if Bartman is there.
I'm looking forward to the ring ceremony at Wrigley next year, where they invite Bartman and the fans forgive him. I'm particularly interested in the post ceremony Bartman interview where says, "Cubs fans, I apologize for you guys dumping beer on me, making death threats and forcing me to live in a tunnel off of Lower Wacker."
