MIL is likely to offer him a good multi-year deal, 2-3 yearsInteresting. Turns 32 in August. He must have some pretty good intel about team interest. Not sure I’d give up the $40M guaranteed but maybe he can get a 3-4 year deal that’s worth it.

Yeah, with his age and injury history (not terrible but not great), I assume he’ll trade a bit of that one-year salary for a longer term deal. Insurance if he gets injured again or starts to significantly decline.Interesting. Turns 32 in August. He must have some pretty good intel about team interest. I'd be surprised if Middleton didn't get paid big time there. Declining that option would seem to be a no-brainer based on where the Bucks are and what you'd expect the Bucks interest to be in retaining him (high). The agent/GM communication leading up to this certainty indicates the high level of interest in a sweet new deal.Yeah if Middleton were to play this year on a one year deal and get hurt again (especially if it was the knee), for the 3rd straight year, his value would be in the toilet next summer. I suspect the Bucks ante up here. A healthy Middleton might just be the best FA on the market. Alas...

ESPN Sources: The Washington Wizards are finalizing a deal to send Chris Paul to the Golden State Warriors for a package that includes Jordan Poole and future draft assets.
Wow. How much is Draymond going to cost them?Woj bomb
I like Poole’s explosiveness leaving GS. Now just have to hope CP3 turns into a pumpkin and that Steph begins his decline. Lottery pick, here we come?
He'll probably give them a significant discount for the opportunity to punch Chris Paul in the face.Wow. How much is Draymond going to cost them?
Honestly might make them better for 1 year if they manage CP3s minutes correctly, but yeah, saves them a TON of money longtermSalary dump? Interesting first move for the post-Myers era.
Poole might actually be fun on Wash. He's going to get his shots.Woj bomb

He's basically Jeff Green but in bullet time.I…don’t really understand this for either team, unless the Warriors trade Paul and blow it up. If they even can. How many times can one player be traded in a week?
I get it for both teams....I…don’t really understand this for either team, unless the Warriors trade Paul and blow it up. If they even can. How many times can one player be traded in a week?
Personally I feel like the Splash Bros Golden state era is done, but if they felt like Poole was not a guy to lead the next era ok, though his contract wasn’t an albatross or anything. Wizards I get it a bit more, they are going to have trouble luring free agents.I get it for both teams....
Warriors get a vet ballhandler who is.... honestly even washed arguably better than what they got out of Poole last year, and they save a TON of money in future years which is key with the new CBA.
Wizards take a chance on a young guy with talent and get some picks, they're going to have 100M in cap space next year and I doubt they could reasonably sign start to be competitive.
Steph has 3 years 167M left on his deal, Wiggins has 3/79, then a 30M player option, Poole had 4/125M.Personally I feel like the Splash Bros Golden state era is done, but if they felt like Poole was not a guy to lead the next era ok, though his contract wasn’t an albatross or anything. GS wants to keep Draymond and it was going to be tough to pay him and Pool. It was also probably tough to have both in the same locker room.Personally I feel like the Splash Bros Golden state era is done, but if they felt like Poole was not a guy to lead the next era ok, though his contract wasn’t an albatross or anything. Jordan Poole, 7 second round picks from 2024-2030, the Warriors 1st rounder in 2030 and Phx pick swaps in 26, 28, and 30 (24 is meaningless) is a pretty good return for that terrible Beale contract. Nice job by the Wiz.View: https://twitter.com/wojespn/status/1671966256482664449
Washington and Phoenix have finalized the Bradley Beal trade, landing the Wizards six second-round draft picks and four first-round pick swaps, sources tell ESPN. Suns are sending seconds in 2024, 2025, 2026, 2027, 2028 and 2030. Pick swaps in 2024, 2026, 2028 and 2030.
Yeah there should be some other moves on the follow. Dunleavy jumping right into the frying pan!The Warriors are $4,000,000 over the second apron before accounting for their first round pick or Draymond.
They wouldn't waive Paul, would they? No way. right?Yeah there should be some other moves on the follow. Dunleavy jumping right into the frying pan!
Kuzma is definitely gone, but year S&T could happenUnfamiliar with NBA rules, but can everyone benefit it Kuzma finds a new home and WAS does a sign and trade? Good for them in finally just tearing everything down to the studs and starting over.
This is mostly about money imo so anything is possible but I think GS sees Paul as the needed upgrade on Poole. Let's see what they do on the follow. They wouldn't waive Paul, would they? No way. right?
(Edit: to be clear, I mean buy him out at that $15M number)
Pretty sure he's getting fully guaranteed to make the money work, at the very least he needs to be guaranteed up to 25M of his 30M for the deal to work. He's going to be a key part of GSW rotation this year. This is mostly about money imo so anything is possible but I think GS sees Paul as the needed upgrade on Poole. That's quite the high variance trade. Could be anywhere from 6 good 2nds & 4 lottery picks to 6 late 2nds & no 1sts.View: https://twitter.com/wojespn/status/1671966256482664449

Beal, Isaiah Todd and Jordan Goodwin to the Suns for Chris Paul and Landry Shamet. Suns are sending cash too, per sources.
I could’ve ‘reported’ this, Chris.
Agreed. I like it for both sides depending on how the Warriors retool here. And the Wizards did fairly well here given that they were price takers.Pretty sure he's getting fully guaranteed to make the money work, at the very least he needs to be guaranteed up to 25M of his 30M for the deal to work. They also get to let Poole stack up numbers on a bad team and maybe trick someone into paying assets for him later. Wouldn't be the first time...Lucky pivot for GS. That Poole contract is terrible at 30, 32, and 34M the next 3 years.
Instead they get a 1 year upside play on CP3 (of course he may be hurt all year, who knows). Poole wasn't doing anything for them and was costing them a ton down the road.
I get it for the Wizards...they have to pay someone and are trying to get more assets. I doubt anything much better was out there for CP3.
Poole played 82 games for them at 30 minutes per game. That's a lot of minutes to find.CP3 on the Warriors is giving me big "Steve Nash on the Lakers" vibe. I think it's over for him--he still broke down last year despite playing fewer minutes and having less of a burden in the playoffs with KD. If anything, I think they are going to be asking him to do more in GS than in Phoenix because they really lack a second creator outside of Curry, and CP3 is going to have to really work on defense as well (and Draymond is going to have to guard like, four people at once).
The Warriors likely have a few more moves to go here. The fit may be more obvious after today. This trades both raises the ceiling and lowers the floor for the warriors next year. Maybe Paul can actually add something to the team when Curry is on the court (which is whenever it matters), but with Poole gone, the Warriors could sink to the bottom of the bay where they below if/when Curry gets hurt.
I don't really see the fit (at all) with Paul and the Warriors - even beyond wondering whether or not an old and tiny backcourt can be effective, even in his prime Paul's style would not have meshed with the Warriors motion offense. HOF'ers make these things work, but these guys are OLD. The biggest benefit here is moving off of Poole's ridiculous deal.
Washington message board posters gonna be on full suicide watch.
