Can't tell if snark... lol.

If serious there were 2 parts he didn't like, when he said something about the writers not liking him and when he mentioned giving Josh Hancock a chance to pitch.  I turned the show back on because it's slow in my office today and that seems to be the last they spoke of it, so at least they didn't dwell.

He just reiterated his point on Brady and the owners and I can see where Felger is coming from.  Much like some of the Patriot's Fanboy porn going on in the other threads (see Berry's awesome "Things Patriots Fans have said")  Felger doesn't believe it's fantasy and just not plausible that Brady will actually try and force all 32 owners to be deposed.  Not the worse take I've heard him have.

I find it ironic how they say that the Deflategate coverage in Boston and the nation has been terrible. Maybe if they looked in a mirror they'd understand, but honestly, they criticize everyone for "being in the bag for the team." So I'm no longer supposed to trust Schefter and Mike Reiss because they seem to have a clear head report what actual sources say and don't just throw crackpot anti Patriot theories at the wall to piss off fans. The thing is Felger and Mazz are so in the bag against the team which is equally as bad

Pedro was 100% right, he should have won the Cy Young that year over Barry Zito. The writers had it wrong, because aside from wins, Martinez was better than Zito that year.

I missed all but the last 10 minutes of Felger and Mazz today (they extended the show over the baseball reporters show), but Mazz was downright estatic over the news today

Before the Brady news came out, they were talking about our last place Red Sox and the Victorino trade. I'd be giddy to move off that snooze fest too.

Yes, George King.

So why didn’t Pedro win the MVP? Of course, it’s not breaking news that the New York Post’s George King refused to vote for pitchers for the award, so he left Pedro off his ballot completely. So even though Martinez received eight first-place votes and Rodriguez received just seven, Rodriguez edged Martinez in overall voting points, 252-239.
“MVP is for everyday players. Pitchers have their own award,” King told his colleague, Tom Keegan, back in ’99. (Keegan used his own writing space to write in great detail why his colleague was dead wrong. That doesn’t happen enough these days.)
OK, fine, King is a man of principle. Hard to argue against a man who believes something so strongly that he’s willing to overlook one of the greatest seasons of pitching in baseball history, right?
Well, again … no. King voted for two pitchers on his MVP ballot in 1998. Those pitchers? Why, they just happened to be David Wells and Rick Helling, and David Wells just so happened to be a member of the Yankees. And Helling … well, this was back in the dark ages when leading the league in wins meant a lot to sports writers who didn’t watch many out-of-market games, so Helling earned King’s vote despite posting a 4.41 ERA and 1.327 WHIP. Nice job with your voting choices there, George King. Rick Helling was clearly more worthy of an MVP vote in ’98 than Pedro was in ’99. Bang-up job all around.

Bertrand and Adam Jones were doing it with Randy Johnson's earlier. Splicing it up with the awkward Wolfpack speech from the hangover. I personally didn't think it was funny, and felt bad for RJ. He was clearly uncomfortable speaking and I thought he did good despite that.
Johnson is an awful speaker who was clearly not comfortable in that setting. Shame on the organizers for not recognizing this being a potential issue and having him follow Smoltz surely didn't do him any favors. Terrible "lineup" card by the HOF and a disservice to The Unit.

When was he supposed to go on? After Pedro? After Biggio? Pedro gave an amazing speech and Biggio gave a really good one too. He's too good of a ball player to go first. I'm not sure why this is a disservice to Randy Johnson.

Yesterday, Mazz spent some time beating two of his particularly favorite dead horses:

a. Brady's not a union guy.
b. there is animosity between Brady and the team because they didn't support him or some nonsense.

I think it's safe to say that between Brady on FB and Kraft's presser, both of these positions aren't worth discussing. My prediction for today is there will be a lot of "Where was Kraft in May? He should have dug in earlier!"

Felger: I believe the Wells Report is largely correct, the organization and Brady knew it was going on and don't believe what Brady is saying.

Yup, click...

I've been fine with their takes for the most part but I can't handle another couple hours/days/weeks of this crap.

The thing that bothers me about Felger and Mazz is that the national media says the same stuff all day and night right now. Would be nice to get some guys who are sympathetic to the Pats just for a change of pace. I don't expect all local media to be honkeys, nor would I want that, but it is strange that they may even surpass Polian and others in their joy over the Patriots predicament. .

Does anyone remember why F&M are so dismissive of the science arguments? I mean, ratings/trolling all that crap aside, does anyone remember what their given "logic" was for ignoring the scientific arguments against the Wells report?

its basically the same reason that they say the salary cap is crap. They say anyone can make the numbers say anything therefore it can be dismissed. If the numbers proved that the balls were deflated they would use it, it doesn't so it's unreliable in they view.

You always have Dale and Holley I guess, but they want to get ratings and people calling up and bitching.

Basically it's because of the text messages, Brady never turning over his phone, and the cover up is always worse than the crime.

Edit: It's always been about the optics for them and the optics haven't been in Brady's favor ever since the text messages came out.

Does their anti-Patriot, local team hatred ever come back to bite them?  I actually liked Felger when he was the sole contrarian making a point, but now with Beetle gone there are just the two of them cackling like schoolgirls - it's incredibly worthless, redundant radio.  They dismiss any argument that might contradict their opinions and it's like facts cease to exist.  The smug attitudes, the mocking nature of every pro Patriots call...will it ever affect their ratings?

Personally, I don't listen more than ten or fifteen minutes a week but I'm probably in the minority.

Edit - I'm dumb.

Tony was apoplectic that Brady didn't offer up the fact that the phone was gone by the time TB12 sat down with Wells, despite the advance warning Brady gave Wells that the phone was off limits.

It's pretty obvious Massarotti has never been deposed*. Rule #1 in a deposition: answer the question asked. Period. NEVER offer up additional information unless directly asked.

F&M were talking like Brady needed to act like he was in a confessional.

A caller asked why they always talk about Brady being dishonest and never look at it from the angle of the NFL screwing up.

Felger said (presumably with a straight face): "everyone is talking about Goodell screwing up. Nobody is talking about how deceitful Brady is being. We (F&M) are trying to give you the angle no one is talking about. "

*I'm not sure Brady's time with Wells and/or Goodell constitutes as a deposition, but it sounded like it shares some of the characteristics of a deposition. I've been deposed. It's not fun.

Watching on TV. Tony started to respond to Hook's opening remarks and then just stammered and said, "Well I won't make a rebuttal. I don't want to get sucked in."

But he was clearly flustered and didn't know how to reply to Hook's bashing.

Btw, Hook is wearing a Patriots SB Champion shirt. Haha.
Awesome. Time to turn it on.

Edit:  I wish I could watch live, only 2 minutes in and you can hear how flustered Murray is and how calm and collected Hook is.

In my mind Murray has been a failure in the 3rd wheel role. He has a good radio voice, which does help in that group, but he can't articulate a coherent opinion to save his life. His takes are all stammering, angry local fan's perspective. Plus he can disappear for segments at a time. All of which opens the door for JStew with his terrible voice and worse takes.

Hook is a much better fit

You can tell when this show has hit a new low when I'm scrolling through facebook and 98.5 has a post for the Felger and Mazz show "Has the NFL really treated the Patriots unfairly?"  What the fuck?

They have railed on and on for months how they think the Patriots did something and that the penalty was ridiculous, now they are questioning whether the Patriots are being treated unfairly?  I mean I know the summer is slow with the Red Sox sucking and all but any chance that I was about to turn the show on is now gone.

I've said above I don't mind some of their contrarian schtick, but they've gotten to the point where they are unbearable because now they are playing the "We are giving you the other side" card and have gone so far to that other side Francessa is making sense.

You think the hosts have anything to do with posting to Facebook?

It is much, much, much more likely that F&M have never been to to F&M Facebook page, which is updated by some back-office lackey.

Criticizing them for Facebook activity is like being mad at Bill Cosby for double-parking.

I didn't listen to them(I don't very much any more) but based on some tweets I saw wasn't their answer that no the NFL didn't treat the Pats unfairly.

Seems like SOP to me.

What do they expect the NFL to do! All the Pats do is deny, deny accuse! The NFL has had enough! Just admit you were wrong and take your punishment!

Felger kept speculating that the NFLPA wanted the transcript of the appeal hearing under seal because maybe their would be some incriminating information on BB. Absurd. Now that it is out, he could ask why NFL lawyers had such a role in the Wells Report, while also cross-examing Brady, but no, he is asking "why is Brady so dishonest -- everyone knowns McNallys name."

Well hopefully he retracts as it was made clear the NFLPA wanted the transcript public from the get go.

Yesterday Mazz was adamant that this would settle by the end of the week because there was no way that the NFLPA would want the "appeal" transcript leaked because they have something to hide.  An hour after their show, it was released as part of the NFLPA filing and the transcript shows the NFLFPA asked that it be released during the "appeal" and the NFL declined.

Nailed that one.
