Well, actually his name was listed first because alphabetically it...

Mazz is brutal as a host. It's clear he attempts to form a hot sportz take every day to run with, but they are so bad and without any real logic that it is just pathetic radio.

Over the last two months I would say when I have had a chance to listen in the afternoon I have switched to WEEI pretty quickly about 80% of the time.

Hook is making Mazz and Murray sound like morons on Ghost. You can get a kicker anywhere! I don't remember a signature moment. They signed him with Revis money!

They ignore the numbers and that there's no one to replace him. Even if you did replace him it'd only save a couple million at most.

The best part was Mazz saying how franchising the kicker was something so unlike Belichick to do.

Hook: "They franchised Vinatieri twice."

Mazz: "Oh."

Belichick is on record saying Vinatieri was the best player on the 2001 Super Bowl team, and somehow Mazz is surprised by this.

Now he's complaining about the rotation order coming out of the break.  Is there anything he won't bitch about?

When Hook told Mazz that the Gostkowski and Revis signings weren't related, Mazz threw it to break like his house was on fire.

I haven't been listening today but I was hoping they replaced Bertrand with Hook. Who knows if he could have kept it up against Fleger every day but the guy isn't afraid to push back, he gets excited and he has some good takes.

I heard T&R talking the other about him being a bit unstable and hard to be around every day so maybe that is why he didn't get it.

So that's what it's like to have somebody who's not a troll a puppet or a mute on the show

I heard that, it was going up against the final word break, "Shut his mic off until the next segment", Mazz sounded pissed because Hook was making too much sense.

Could be that there is a lot of Gresh's thin skin in Hook or that he won't put up with bullshit or perceived stupidity but I think Mazz would lose his shit if he had Hook attacking him with logic and made him have a point that he actually thought through and had a reason for.  Hook vs Felger would great because Felger usually has a reason for his opinion where Mazz usually says "I just don't like him" (reference to a hockey player Felger liked and Mazz didn't)

Marshall Hook is my new hero. He uses logic, unlike Mazz, and he isn't as soft-spoken and deferential as Jim Murray, who seems reluctant to challenge the guys who recsued him from Radio Atlanta and gave him a gig talking sports in flagship show of the most popular sports talk show in the region.

Marshall Hooks needs a full-time job on that show -- it would salvage it in so many ways.

That was two days in a row where you could really see Mazz getting flustered/angry as it got close to 6 p.m. after getting pummeled by Hook on point after point.

Re: Mazz and Felger's argument that Brady should accept a 2 game penalty for the good of the team:

Wouldn't it be worth asking both Felger and Mazz this question:   "Guys, you have both been newspaper men for ____ years.   Let's assume you were accused of plagiarism, and you know with certainty that the accusation was false.  Nevertheless, your Editor in Chief and owner of your paper decides to suspend you for 3 months without pay (the equivalent of 4 games in the NFL).  You protest vociferously, as there is no incontrovertible evidence of plagiarism, in fact, there is good reason to believe that there is no credible evidence of plagiarism.  The plagiarism accusations are made public as well as your suspension.  You are branded as plagiarizers.   Your union permits you to appeal your suspension to your employer, and after significant back and forth, your employer, to put it to rest, will agree to reduce the suspension 30 days without pay.   Do you accept the penalty and suspension and live with the stain of being a plagiarizer?   Wouldn't that be best for your family?   What say you?"

I truly wonder what answer they'd give.

Wonder how much animosity is building up here. Mazz seemed to be mocking Hook by purposely calling him Marshall COOK on two occasions and then later "apologizing" for it in passive-aggressive manner.

The show is what it is. I like Felger most of the time and Mazz provides mostly nonsensical entertainment. As long as those are my expecations I feel they do a pretty good job entertaining me on my drive while allowing me to ignore EEI.

This is where I've been for awhile now.  As soon as they start to get annoying or start in on something I don't care about anymore (deflategate) I just turn it off.

I'm beginning to develop an unhealthy hatred of Jimmy. Like yeah we get it you hate Farrell And I'm no Farrell guy myself but God cut out the annoying snide comments why don't you. Can't Murray talk a little more so we don't have to hear about him hating the Red Sox and his main "sport" wrestling which apparently nobody has told him is fake

I brought this up a little while ago. I think he was pretty clever and interesting when he had little snippets here and there where he would just interject a one-liner about something but for some reason he's a big part of the show now and all he does is scream THE RED SOX SUCK. I HATE THEM. THEY ARE TERRIBLE TO WATCH. (while I agree with this, if I wanted to listen to this HOTSPORTZTAKE I'd sit down at my son's 1st grade lunch table)

Not for nothing but just enjoy tomorrow and if Felger decides to go down this road ( I actually doubt he will) then change the station.

Felger (so far) seems too busy trying to shit on Brady and his chances in court to attack Pedro, but the day is young.

where I was last at
I don't understand what's so hard for Felger to accept that if Brady/NFLPA goes to court over among other issues the neutrality of Goodell as a neutral arbitrator, why Brady would not use the threat of deposing the owners to see what communications there was between owners and Goodell.

Now Mazz is picking apart Pedro's speech even though he's a huge Pedro guy.

Between being tired of any and all deflategate talk and this I will be taking my own advice.

Bertrand and Adam Jones were doing it with Randy Johnson's earlier. Splicing it up with the awkward Wolfpack speech from the hangover. I personally didn't think it was funny, and felt bad for RJ. He was clearly uncomfortable speaking and I thought he did good despite that.
