His reaction wasn’t nearly as bad as other times pitchers have been hit in the head

Are they going to show a replay or just talk about it endlessly?
Yes, this pretty obviously was not a Bryce Florie horror show which no one should ever have to see. Tanner walked off and seemed ok. So show it so we can be reassured that
the angle wasn’t too bad. Hopefully like the endlessly replayed foul ball off John Sterling’s noggin. Journalism is actually relevant to show viewers what happened

Is there a reason MLB pitchers aren't protected like college softball pitchers? Is it just optics and/or machismo?

Among other things, too bad houck can't get a win and that the Sox will need 7 pitchers to tie down a 13 run game.

Looking at that video, I think he’ll be okay because of how he got up quickly and the ball angled away rather that just stopping. Justin Turner’s beaning in spring training looked much worse and more dramatic. Shitty that happened in the midst of Tanner’s great performance and all around fun, but I’m choosing to be optimistic. They really should show the video again because it’s not horrible to see.
