Ime emphasized defense and effort. Joe has, I think admittedly, not emphasized that at all.
I would’ve brought Hauser in in the second quarter once it was clear they weren’t shooting threes well. Mazz has probably stuck too much to his rotation when guys were struggling.
As much as big guards have been great for them, frankly I think they’ve been hurt a ton by not having a real pg on the roster the last two years. When the defense has clamped this spring it is forcing Tatum to initiate everything under pressure 30 feet from the hoop or JB coughing it up against double teams. They don’t have any ball-handling quickness and it shows. Jaylen is it for first step explosion but he can’t handle or pass for shit against a locked in D. Need another guy who can beat the first man without getting exploited on D.
If I’m Tatum this is my first ask. And it better happen quick because he is going to be raked over the coals for this, fair or not, and it will put him halfway out of town looking for the inevitable trade elsewhere.
