I assume because not everyone has FS1 and more people would be interested in the golf.
I would also assume the reason they are doing it is that is part of the contract with MLB and they didn't think they would still be playing golf at this time.

That's true, unless you have cable or satellite and then you have FS1. But the baseball was contractually obligated for Fox, they had to change.

Still has 340ish in!

I think if I played this hole at my very best from there it is driver, 3-wood, 3-iron. Jeeesus.

But I'd miss the fairway off the tee then need to hit 7 wedges to get it the hell out of the rough and too the green.

I'd have to go driver, 3-wood, 3-wood and hit them all perfectly. Which I never do.

Yeah I'd have to play it driver, 4 iron, 6 iron I think (280, 210, 180). And hit them all perfect and not be in the rough, etc. which is highly unlikely. I'd be happy to be on the green in 5.

Well if you are DJ, any holes you don't have to play today is a plus. He's getting up early anyway and he's been leaking oil all day missing greens and fairways. Horn can't sound fast enough.

Edit: On phone earlier and that first sentence was brutal. Hard proofing a post from a phone

Just got back from the world's longest dance recital, which I basically watched with one eye, while trying to keep up with the tournament on my phone and not piss off any of the stage moms cheering on little Madison and Taylor as the stumbled around to some Broadway show tune. That was fun.

Anyway, really happy for Rob. Not in the hunt for a win or anything, but another 72 today is surely more than respectable at this place, and if he can have a good round tomorrow, he has a real shot at a top 25, maybe even top 20 finish. The money alone with a 10m purse would be huge for him, but I think the potential confidence boost if he can finish strong is what really matters. Just don't want to see the wheels come off and put a 78 or something, which is entirely possible, but probably still shouldn't erase what he's done to this point.

Not surprised to see that DJ self-immolated a bit today. Really worried that he may not have what it takes to win a major, between the ears, and certainly not the US Open, but I hope he does. Am not really surprised to see Lowry jump out though. He's such a steady player, and very underrated. Happy to see Sergio still there. He's my Sunday rooting interest. Jason Day lurking is definitely interesting. I didn't get to see it, but Spieth gave back all that good work he did early in the round, huh?

I thought DJ actually held it together pretty well considering that he wasn't on target like the first two rounds. The only short game error was that chip that rolled off the false front. He's rolling the ball well enough, granted he's not an elite putter, but that part of his game isn't costing him strokes. Seems to me he's better off when he's aggressive off the tee. And if he straightens it out and hits fairways tomorrow, he's playing a much shorter course than anyone and that could be the difference. He's been right there in other Opens although those courses aren't like the traditional Opens. Either way, should be a good one. I'd watch Day, he snuck back in today.

Don't know much about the leader at this point, but he was striking it.

And great for Rob. Three 72's on this course is legit.

3rd round done. Lowry and Landry the final pairing with DJ and Westwood in front of them. Landry hit a bomb of a birdie putt on -8 to jump ahead of DJ.

Didn't expect the leader to be at -7 after 3 rounds.

Damn, didn't realize he took a penalty. Considering he did, and he's still four shots clear going into the final round, feels like he's got it together enough to hang on to this thing. I just hope at some point that the gap is closed and we get a fun finish. Would hate to see him just retain or even grow that lead throughout the day.

Rob is paired with Brooks Koepka. Can't let his length get in his head, and cause him to take chances. Gotta stick with his game, of fairways and greens, and make some putts. Hard to do when the guy you're with is routinely 50+ yards ahead of you.

I wonder if the split round for Lowry will actually end up in his favor. He didn't have to sleep on a 3rd round lead and all the demons that could potentially come with that. He just came out this morning and finished strong and can just lay around and not have to think as much. It's easier to roll through 2pm with your thoughts than it is at 2am.

That said, the balls are rolling all over the place today. There is a chance Lowry blows up and makes this close. A couple of bad swings is all it will take. I like Lowry and it would be cool if he won, but I would prefer a back nine that is dramatic. So, yeah, I'm hoping for a blow up.

The odds that Lowry can keep his emotions in check and close it out have to be something like 10%.

Kokrak hits a perfect drive on No. 2, rolls up about 20 feet onto the green, and then rolls back down off the front. That's what I talk about when I say I love and hate the US Open. Love the idea of testing these guys, but when an absolutely perfect shot can't stay 8 feet below the hole, when the hole is cut almost in the middle of the green, there is something just unfair about it.
