California. Duh.
Toure just managed to play Benzema onside, yet still managed to let him get behind to put in a cross.

Well, they made it almost a half hour...

That penalty definitely was soft.  But Alexis' shot off the rebound for the second wasn't.  2-0 Arsenal.  Need to score about 6 more to bridge the goals scored gap with Dortmund.

Sacha Kljestan sighting!

And there he is again...giving the ball away cheaply to enable Ox to drive forward and score.

That stache is something else.

The goal was actually a great effort though, the sort of end product that Arsenal really needs to see more of from Ox.

two delays in the Dort-Gala for Gala's away fans throwing flares into sections with Dortmund's fans.

edit - Dortmund's fans now chanting "na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye"

We were getting second in the group with a win or a draw so in the big picture it really doesn't matter.

But this collapse is pretty sad.

I don't have as much faith after watching the last 30 minutes of that game. Arsenal was awful.

Edit - They will get through because Anderlecht won't win out but still, game did not inspire much confidence.

Pretty sad collapse by Arsenal, yet somewhat mitigated by the fact that the three Anderlecht goals were (1) clearly offside, (2) a dubious penalty, and (3) an absolutely perfect cross matched with an absolutely perfect header.

Of course, Anderlecht looked dangerous throughout the game, just funny that those happened to be the three goals.

I'd be shocked if this ends 1-0.
Well, I guess I'm shocked.  Liverpool got some possession in the offensive end but couldn't manufacture a good chance, yet managed to keep Real from scoring any more.

Anderlecht still have to beat Galatasaray at home and then Dortmund away, plus have us lose the next two games outright.

Wenger showed his tactical naivete using his first sub to put Flamini on for Arteta.  I don't understand what that accomplishes, other than perhaps saving Arteta's legs a little bit for the weekend.  It doesn't make us any more defensively solid, and Arteta is the key to us being able to control the game in possession.  If Mourinho is in that spot, he puts on Flamini for an attacking player, plays two DMs that sit in front of the back four, and just kills the match.

Edit: OK, now people are telling me Arteta was injured, which I guess I missed.

There's a reason why Kljestan lost his spot to a 16 year old last season.

I was able to watch most of the Atletico game yesterday, and even some of the half-time show. The announcers--I'm not sure who they were--were saying that, at the moment, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich may be the two best teams in Europe, with Barcelona and Chelsea maybe the next two teams. I agree with this statement.

But I don't agree with the fact that none of the announcers mentioned Atletico. Sure, I'm biased, but to not give a little respect to the reigning La Liga champions who took out Real Madrid in the Super Cup and beat Real Madrid in their league match this year seems like an oversight. While Atletico will never be as high-performing as Real Madrid, Atleti is playing good football right now and deserves to be in that conversation.

I agree with you bosox. Atleti should be getting more love. I do wonder how they will perform later in the year though, when losses like Felipe Luiz really start to take their toll.

Roma ran out a very defensive midfield of Nainggolan-De Rossi-and Keita, are doing a pretty good job keeping their shape, and just came very close to scoring on the break.  This one could be interesting.

also Messi just scored the ultimate cheese goal to get closer to Raul's record.

So weak, Cillessen out in space. Pretty even match so far otherwise.

Porto double their lead from a HOWLER from the keeper.  He tried to trap a ball and it slid under his foot allowing the Porto player to tap it in.

Yaya Toure with a straight red.  So to recap, City in basically a must win down are down to 9 men and down a goal...and they lose their best player vs Bayern and Roma.
