My secretary just came in and we randomly started talking football.  She informed me that the Patriots won the SB on a technicality.  I said what technicality - having the higher score?  And she said no, that Lynch was supposed to run.  Then she got into how overrated we are.  I said we just won the SB, we couldn't possibly be overrated.  Then the cheating stuff.  I asked her team.  Steelers.  Oh, so you root for a rapist and a dog fighter.  Ben's not a rapist.  Oh, no?  No, not at all.  Then we started talking Odell Beckham, who she said is no Jerry Rice - her all-time favorite.  Right, I say, he didn't use stick'em like Jerry.  More blank stares.

Is secretary still the prevalent term used?  I thought Assistant or Ops Assistant or something similar was used these days?

I would think she might have been a tad more vocal over the past 8 months......
I would also add, and that you refer to her as a secretary. I have a friend who is an executive admin and made the mistake of calling her a secretary once. Hell hath no fury as a woman who's job has been mislabeled.

Yeah, it's assistant.  Sorry, she was emailing me Brady memes and I was being petty.

In all seriousness, I've been dumb, and I've been stupid, but not dumb and stupid enough to even think about going down that path.

Like 6 months.  She wanted to enter me in an intra-firm look alike contest, and I jokingly asked if it was for Tom Brady and that started it.
The start of the second sentence had so much promise.

The term I hear nowadays is executive assistant.  Not sure if that's different from Ops Assistant or anything.

It'd make all the worry about whether to call her secretary or assistant kind of silly if that was the nature of our relationship.

I love that Brady isn't tough because he's a dork and a goofball. What the fuck does that have to do with toughness? The list of injuries he's played through without saying a peep that other QBs have been sidelined by or made a big show of is pretty extensive. Tough guy Roethlisberger leads the NFL in milking every nick he gets.

More importantly, why do we care at all what Bart Scott thinks about anything?  Seriously....I just don't care about his view on any subject.

I believe they refer to this as clutching at straws:

Scott said. “How many times does he miss air high-fives? He’s missed celebrations because he’s just awkward.”
You’ve seen him dance, he’s a cornball,” Scott continued.

That article on Bart Scott wasn't that negitive on Brady. Sure he called him a dork or bad at high fives and not "tough" like McNair but he also said he is maybe the GOAT, so on the whole, Scott wasn't really insulting him.

People should listen to the actual clips, it's really nothing to get upset about. He's not really wrong either, Brady is a cornball.

You can act like a dork and still be the best QB of all time, which is basically what he said.

Is anyone here really upset? Or are you guys talking about this mythical "Boston sports fan" that everyone loves to talk about to show they are better fans than all those other guys?

Because I think we can talk about Scott's comments without being upset that he made them.

This person is starting to annoy me. It started last week when local media people attacked Patriot fans for "being up in arms" about Brady not winning player of the week. I know a lot of Patriots fans in a few different groups of different types of people. Nobody I know was at all upset about that. Most just laughed it off because while he probably should have won it, it doesn't matter. Same thing with Scott. Nobody is upset at him. The most I've heard is people laughing at him at how in his head the Patriots still are after he's retired.

Brady is a total dork. And he is super awkward. I bet he is ridiculously awkward when he goes home at night, puts on his 4 SB rings, and then has sex with his Brazilian supermodel billionaire wife. He must get super insecure about it at times and be like "damn, why won't the cool kids let me sit with them at the lunch table" and all.

I just can't help but laugh at how the "tough" quarterbacks are always the ones who can't seem to stay healthy.  Somewhere along the line being injury-prone and taking stupid hits became a positive attribute.  McNair and Roethlisberger are "tough" but Brady and Manning aren't.  OK I guess.

Some guys are obviously prone to injury and some guys aren't. The Manning DNA has an especially strong ability to stay healthy. But I don't think anyone can deny how fucking tough Roethlisberger is. The dude destroyed himself in a biking accident and didn't miss time. And he hasn't missed that much time in general in his career. He's not RG3.

I'm not denying Roethlisberger's toughness, or McNair's for that matter.  It's labeling the people that don't get injured (or don't publicize it) as not tough that's odd to me.

Throwing a football is far more effective when you haven't been leveled the last play. Being tough is being stupid for a quarterback. Leave it to the strong safeties ...

I heard the comments this morning and I actually do think there is something to be upset about: Bart Scott's admission that he would intentionally try to deliver a kill shot with his fucking helmet. Unless, of course, he "respects" the guy, in which case he'll make a decision in a fraction of a second to tilt his fucking head. The game thrives on good QB play and, especially in light of Bountygaye, maybe the NFL shouldn't want a former player admitting to goIng for kill shots. Further, maybe teams should quit silently endorsing players using their helmet as a weapon.

But I guess Bart is just keepin' it real.

Maybe they should put some kind of pad or button or something in the top of the helmet so if you lead with your crown you get a massive shock or it starts playing "Puberty Love" into your ears.

Hmm....hold on a second.  All of a sudden both HR and IT need to talk to me right now.  Friday afternoon guys.  Relax a little bit.

Was working today and at lunch, sitting and eating with someone from NY. I asked "Jets or Giants", he said "Giants" and then the guy at my table with us brought up me being a Pats fan (which I don't usually broadcast, especially while working) and the guy starts going in about Deflategate.

"If I were the Commissioner, they wouldn't have even played in the Super Bowl, take all their titles, blah blah blah"

I just watched him rant for awhile and didn't bother correcting anything. He got up and I never saw him again.

My roommate is a Jets fan.  I find the best way to deal is similar to yours above.  They don't want to hear multiple sides to a story and develop their own opinion, by which it's perfectly valid if they still believe the Pats did something but to at least acknowledge it's very much a gray area.

Its amazing that we could outscore the Colts by 9 pts/game over a pretty large sample (21 games) yet still have accrued fewer total yards.  Turnover differential clearly plays a big part but there must be a ton of Peyton/Luck garbage time passing yards in there as well.  The numbers for the Rams are even more stark in this respect, but its more understandable in a small sample.

Gotta fix that Giants thing this year. If they win this year, he won't have a losing record to any team. Not one. The point differential is positive against every single team. I can't even fathom that, even though I know it's true.

That's truly, truly amazing. I mean.. wow. I know we say this a lot around here, but we are so lucky to be fans of this team during this era.

Great graphic.  If the Pats increasing points per game trend continues at the current rate they will be averaging 100 points per game somewhere around the turn of the century. :)

It is interesting that on a points per game against basis, the Pats have been right around league average since Belichick came on board however the offense has been consistently improving at an impressive rate (based on points scored).  Likely a large portion of the offensive improvement is related to Brady's development as well as rules changes that have favored the offense.  Still, for a guy with a defensive mastermind reputation when he first joined the Pats as head coach, it wouldn't be hard to argue that he has developed into the preeminent offensive mind in NFL history.

Highly doubtful. It's not breaking any laws, and it's existence is hardly a PR concern for Gofundme.

Edit: Whoa, $5mill? Yeah, I guess there's a valid concern about where the money is going.
