I assume the people (person) at EDJsports just got drunk and made some shit up. I mean they combined Gruden and his replacement - that doesn't make sense
Well I was posting it more as a laugh. But considering there are supposedly 3 advanced metric sites that have him in 6 or better, I was wondering what some of the posters into that kind of advanced stats stuff might have to say about it, because it's baffling to me.When you see a ranking like that, back away slowly, and don't bother posting it
Rankings are a function of the criteria you deem important to being a good coach. This is what happens when you mistakenly fetishize a metric or two or six that aren't as important as you think they are.I agree 100 percent. But two other rankings have him 3 and 6 lolz. I have no idea what's going on with the rankings.
"Hold my beer!" ~ Mike McCarthyI can’t believe Dallas is still in this.
It depends on how you define “in this.“I can’t believe Dallas is still in this.
I think ranking coaches is near impossible on any sample size less than several seasons, and even then it’s pretty subjective for the most part. Some guys might be so awful that it’s obvious, but even great coaches don’t make decisions that are immediately obviously “great.” I’m more a baseball guy than football, so I’m not anywhere close to an expert on advanced football metrics, but I don’t even see how it’s possible to have advanced metrics regarding coaches, other than decisions about going for it vs punting and going for two vs kicking an extra pointWell I was posting it more as a laugh. I too am partial to this metric.I like Super Bowls won.
Seriously, have they had a decent run all day?Jesus, ESTABLISH THE RUN take swoops in
They’ve run the ball inefficiently, but by all means bang your head against the wall.
He is the worst. Him and Kelce, I despise both with a passion that I am amazed by.Tyreek Hill is a cock.
I don't think it's a particularly good metric, too much of winning SBs is about roster, which is a GM issue. The best is probably something like wins over expected, but parsing where you get your expected wins from is tough.I too am partial to this metric.
For real, though, it really seems like team success is the best measure of a good head coach. Unless theyre truly awful, it’s hard to know over the course of a few games. Also, I was gonna use Freddie kitchens as the example of a truly awful coach, and saw hue Jackson was 3-36-1 in his time with Cleveland. Ouch
Pollard had a 31 yard run, they’re otherwise logging at 14 carries for 47 yards.Seriously, have they had a decent run all day?
I was mostly kidding about saying I liked the Super Bowls measurement. But yea, I don’t think it’s even possible to measure how many wins a team should win with an average head coach. I think you can tell who’s a good coach and who isn’t over the course of a few seasons, but picking between any two good coaches and saying one is better than the other is pretty futile for the most part.I don't think it's a particularly good metric, too much of winning SBs is about roster, which is a GM issue. He's making sure the KC fans don't leave Arrowhead early. Beyond that, not sure about his goals. Is McCarthy actually playing to win this game?
