Here's the difference between the Pats and the Colts:

Edelman: "An AFC Championship ring sucks."

Colts: Hang a banner for losing that same game.

"But the celebration wouldn't last long..."

Fuck you, it certainly lasted long once we figured out to turn off ESPN and watch AFCCG highlights instead.

Here we go. We don't even get a video celebrating our season without a deflategate discussion.

Fuck this league so hard.

I fucking love Edelman and Gronk.  Other than Brady, they were the two perfect players to relay the story of the 2014 Pats.

I'm erect and ready for a fucking title defense.

Hate to do it but...."this."

That plus the relentless harping on Butler to put his foot in the ground and get to that spot until it was second nature (the last corner on the depth chart) are just the quintessential examples of what has made this franchise into a win factory.

That was a well put-together piece. The lead-in about Spygate immediately thereafter?

Seriously, what am I missing with the Colts?
+1.

Did they pick up a defense this offseason, and I just missed it?

I can understand picking against the Pats (though Florio picks them). But in that event, what makes the Colts such favorites as opposed to everybody else?

A great quarterback with lots of shiny trinkets and a sexy passing offense distracting from the fact that Arthur Jones is hurt again and their line is likely soft up front again.

It could all come together. Defense has more variance than offense and they won't be worse than the 2011 Pats on defense. I would just bace to see evidence similar personnel isn't going to just get brutalized up front by their biggest rival for a fifth and sixth straight time before I picked them to win it all.

I would add that losing Revis and Browner likely (rightfully?) makes our secondary look extremely soft, which would favor a team like the Colts.

Isn't it obvious? They only lost the AFCCG because cheating Cheatriots cheat so clearly they're the best team in the AFC world.

Man, Butler was everywhere in the 4th.

This is one thing that's bothered me all off-season is the "Butler made one play" thing. He had 2 solid passes defensed, he made the play on the Kearse catch, then he made the big INT. He had a huge second half. I watched 3 Games to Glory again the other day and he stands out once he gets in. Hell, Arrington had 4 passes defensed in all of 2014, Butler did it in 1.5 quarters in the Super Bowl.

The kid's got an attitude too, we saw it in the preseason but he makes that first play and stares down the WR.

I just watched this on the DVR, after yesterday the segment on McCourty's interception is what drives the cheating comments. McCourty gets burned in the first half on the same play, identifies it by the formation in the second half and jumps it.

HE KNEW WHAT WAS COMING! THEY MUST HAVE TAKEN THE PLAY SHEETS! OR THEY TAPED PRACTICE? HOW DID HE KNOW WHAT WAS HAPPENING?

There was another instance of this earlier I can't remember but one of them made another comments like "we knew it was coming"

I thought it was solid overall. We've heard all the audio before, but it was still good. One thing I thought may get some mention was the addition of Stork, or even the offensive line at all. The main problem with weeks 1-4 is the offensive line was a freaking mess. Stork comes in, anchors the line and they go on a run. It's not sexy but I thought it'd get some mention.

He also sneakily tripped the seahawks wide receiver on 3rd down and the ref missed the call. That allowed the Pats to get the ball back for their last touchdown.

Not only did they not improve much on D from last season, but they lost Art Jones for the season.  People really think Trent Cole is the difference?

I can see a little bit of logic in picking the Colts - they play in the worst division in the AFC, and get the Pats at home during the regular season. They therefore have pretty good odds on home field in the AFC. I see too many turnovers from Luck (though we might expect continued improvement from him), but agreed on the defense not being any better. That being said, somehow the defense played well enough in 2006 for them to win it all.

Picking them, yes. picking them unanimously over everyone else? No. For example, Pittsburgh is a decent bet if its defense holds. If Baltimore gets decent secondary play, it might eat them alive.

So again, if you want to move from the Pats because last year's secondary is gone, fine. This seems too cheerleaderish -- the sort of treatment Peyton used to get.

Death, taxes, and ESPN expert picks collectively presenting a far more certain outcome than is realistic.

No one, not even Nick Saban, looks more awkward being happy than this man. I’m creeped out just looking at him attempt to smile. I really am. It sends bad vibes all through my house. I remain firmly convinced that, despite the victory* over Seattle, Belichick’s favorite moment from last season was spite-benching Jonas Gray, just to be a cock.

Brady (if that is his real name) is also seeking a fifth championship* to secure his legacy* as the greatest quarterback in NFL history*, even though he is probably just Chris Redman with a crib sheet.

This made me laugh.

This may not be the appropriate thread but I just wanted to talk about my experiences as Pats fan who recently relocated to the Buffalo area. I had never thought much about the Bills until moving out here and be subjected to the scathing, vitriolic, visceral hatred and bitterness that these fans harbor for the Pats. Apart from the looks of disgust I get when entering a public establishment wearing my Patriots hat, I have been engaged in numerous discussion wherein an impassioned, indignant Bills fan tries to suggest their Super Bowl victories are tarnished "because deflategate and spygate" and how "they won those games by the skin of their teeth." Unwilling to accept or even consider that filming defensive signals was a common practice, the league produced zero tangible evidence with regards to the DFG investigation, and that in most cases, when the two best teams in the league match up for a championship game the score is often close and that in no way tarnishes their victory, my new neighbors would rather attempt to shout me down with their self-deluded "talking points."

One last anecdote: on the way home from work this afternoon I tuned into the local sports radio station and listened to the local hosts ponder whether or not the Bills should have won most of the games they played against the Pats since the Brady-Belichick era as a result of the latest accusations that have surfaced regarding low-level Pats employees stealing play books from opposing teams locker rooms despite the fact that the Bills have pretty much always sucked and are synonymous with abject, gut-punching failure.

In short, the taste of Bills Nation's Tears is especially delicious.

I may be reading too much into the program description but I'm not liking the look of the show that's on after "Do Your Job" tonight: "Reactions to the Do Your Job" special and bonus content that didn't make the show. Special, Talk, Live." Hmmm.

Not to single you out, but I don't understand why this bothers anyone.  When you saw a Yankee hat in 2000, did you scurry over to the wearer to tell him how much you enjoyed watching the Yankees win championships and humiliate your favorite team?

Isn't this whole thing just par for the course when you're a fan of a championship team?  Except multiplied by ten because the Pats have been a championship team for an epic, extended run?

I would rather be a fan of this team and deal with the whining than be a fan of any other team in the NFL.

This is true, but I'd add a few more multipliers:

1) Championships in all major sports, leading to rightful reputation as "spoiled"
2) Primary rival is NYC, media center/largest population base of the US
3) Dominance coinciding with propagation of outlets for manufactured outrage (talk radio, the internet, etc.)

Due respect, but I did not say that it bothered me. In fact, I ended my comment with the following: "In short, the taste of Bills Nation's Tears is especially delicious."

I quite enjoy listening to all of the situations I detailed. My apologies if that wasn't clear.
