The guy who's bored with this process now.

Blow my wiener.

No thanks. Besides, you think Foles is a decent QB. I have no hate towards you. Build the team how you wish.

I'm flipping between two names. I'm probably going to bed in the next hour or so. If Kram doesn't make his pick before then, I'll PM one some my proxy to post when my turns comes up around 4 am. I'm not really 100% sure who's going to be online then so let me know. I'm just interested in moving this along, no pressure on anyone.

Wade Davis RP

PM sent.

So that's Wade Davis. He hasn't really turned into a good starter like I'm sure the Royals wanted. What he is good at is being a relief pitcher. In 2012, he had a ERA of 2.43, a K/9 over 11 and ended up holding lefties to a .219 wOBA. (That's what really sold me on Davis. There's a few other RP I was looking at but they were pretty susceptible to LHP.) In 10 September innings, finally as a reliever again, Davis had a ERA under 1. Hopefully, the stupid Royals can follow basic logic and keep him in the pen all season long.

Why Not Grebeck? said:
Damn. Wade Davis was my stealth pick for next time since he was such a terrible SP.
Blame Leskanic. I might have waited but when guys coming off two years of TJ are coming off the board, you've got to move on guys that you think you can wait on.

I mean, my entire team is coming off multiple Tommy Johns and most of them are getting it done again this week. HOW MANY TOMMY JOHNS CAN YOU EVEN HAVE???

Tyler Clippard, RP

OK, so I should have at least one real relief pitcher.  Clippard strikes out a ton of guys, doesn't allow many baserunners, and has put up great numbers in each of the five seasons he's played.  He's even a "proven closer," having saved 32 games for the Nationals in 2012, so I'll slot him in at closer for now.

Depends on what you do. Simple leagues take a few hours to draft and you can set your lineup daily or weekly. Goes all the way up to dynasty drafts which are similar to this.

So do any of you guys do regular fantasy baseball? I've never done it. How does it compare to this?

I did fantasy Baseball pretty regularly from like 1998-2011. It's fun, especially if you do a live draft, but it can be frustrating if there isn't good participation.

The main difference between that and this is in fantasy Baseball everyone's pretty much drafting for the same goal - points (or match-ups). Sure, keeper leagues can offer a difference between go-for-it-now and planning-for-the-future teams, but it's still all toward the same goal. Whereas for this we're all just kind of creating our own goals.

Holy shit this sounds amazing
You should see my league (Curll's former league). 28 teams, every player playing in affiliate league ball in the US (so everything but the DSL and VSL), variable salary caps by franchise...it's pretty insane. I can't even bother with normal fantasy anymore. Anyone interested can shoot me a PM, and I'll forward your details to our commissioner...we tend to get an opening or two every year.

Wow, pretty sure the winner of your league should be offered a job in any MLB front office.

My best OFer is Jackie Bradley Jr.  So needless to say, I'm a little light out there.  I'm going to take a guy that could certainly use some more seasoning in the minors but I think his defense plays immediately.  This Natinals prospect has at least 4 tools and projectable power.  I'm excited to add BP2 Brian Goodwin

No, if it is WAU, then when you win, you get kicked out and no prize money or trophy.

I'm still pissed I didn't get my bobblehead. I dominated that league so hard.

Well that's pleasant
Eh, the Commish (and everyone else) hated me.

The rules were very precise and the Commish would take advantage of them since he wrote them. I think I still have a spreadsheet or two from that league, if you really want to see the absurdity of it all. I want to build a system that essentially emulates a baseball league, not too dissimilar from what Goldstein did for the Astros or even OOTP, so people could run these leagues easily without the damn spreadsheet.

Edit: I'm excited that I may be able to trade WAU war stories with Scoops, since Kevin J. Cummings won't acknowledge me on SoSH :(

Wandy Rodriguez - SP5

A bargain basement special.  From 2007-2012 he was pretty good.  He was hurt in 2013.  Right now, he isn't.

It's 2014... I need a pitcher.

* I was going to choose another guy, but Wandy's GIF was better.  PM sent.

Things have actually gotten much smoother the last couple years, and a huge amount of the connie was actually rewritten this offseason after years of popular pressure to reform various things. I'd say the league has matured to a point where most people know the rules well enough that no one tries anything too outrageous anymore. I can't remember the last major controversy we had. It's been a while. That said, "to Kershaw" something is still a verb actively used...

And the WAU could be done pretty easily without the spreadsheet if anyone in the league was a good MySQL programmer, and was willing to donate their time into creating a database and entry system for it. But that's a lot of work.

I went to the championship for the 3rd time this past offseason, and finished #1 in roto rankings for the 4th time I believe. Of course, I lost in the championship yet again. I'm the fucking Bills, if the Bills were also the most dominant regular season franchise in football for the better part of a decade.

To be fair, I was able to sneak a ~8 year deal to Kershaw for $1,700,000/year.
