Shreds lefties (.329/.367/.513, 140 wRC+ for his career, #22 overall among active players with >400 PAs). Will platoon with John Jaso at 1B and push Wilmer Flores into a platoon at DH with Seth Smith. Can play 3B and 2B too (or at least this is where the Royals have him playing these days, in addition to 1B), which is a nice bonus.
