You could tell Rich was REALLY P.O.'d at Fred, but tried to hold it in a bit. Fred just doesn't give a flying F.Fred unable to get in from Newton until 7:40 like a real pro. Wallach left Framingham at 4:10 to get in, Fred didn't even get up until 5. You'd think after missing most of last week he'd at least try to get in.
His excuse was interesting... I ordered an Uber at 5:15 see?You could tell Rich was REALLY P.O.'d at Fred, but tried to hold it in a bit. Fred just doesn't give a flying F.
That would be cheaper than the two car garage that he clearly needs. You'd think Freddy Moneybags would have just stayed in the hotel they provided or hire an actual car service that is more reliable than Uber.
Like staying in the hotel his company was going to pay for the night before? It wasn’t nice enough for him.I didn't hear the show this morning, however... I've never been a morning radio host, but it seems to me that having a plan to make sure you can be at the studio on time in the event of bad weather would be a pretty standard thing.
Ouch. I find most of the radio workplace controversies to be pretty silly, but I would understand management and co-workers being legitimately upset.Like staying in the hotel his company was going to pay for the night before? It wasn’t nice enough for him.
My wife works in Labor and Delivery, where missing work due to weather is really frowned upon: planning ahead like this in anticipation of a big storm has been a part of life for over 15 years.I didn't hear the show this morning, however... I've never been a morning radio host, but it seems to me that having a plan to make sure you can be at the studio on time in the event of bad weather would be a pretty standard thing.
Is “get in the bathroom” a thing, and if I ever go to a bar in Southie again, can I reasonably expect to hear some 22 year-old who’s shitfaced at 2:30 in the afternoon on a Sunday yell it out?North Shore douche-bro Jared Carrabis got into it with Josh Kantor today too.
You realize you are asking someone about your age and level of washed this question right? If anything is a "thing" with 22-year-olds right now I assure you I am unaware of it.Is “get in the bathroom” a thing, and if I ever go to a bar in Southie again, can I reasonably expect to hear some 22 year-old who’s shitfaced at 2:30 in the afternoon on a Sunday yell it out?
You know who Carrabis is, and your kid and liver are a little younger. I figured you knew all this shit. You realize you are asking someone about your age and level of washed this question right? If anything is a "thing" with 22-year-olds right now I assure you I am unaware of it.
While it is true that I drink and I know things. I am completely unaware of this particular phrase. I am familiar with Carrabis though. We mixed it up a bit last year on Twitter. For a guy who likes to be brash, uber confident, and take shots at people, he has some gossamer-thin skin. You know who Carrabis is, and your kid and liver are a little younger. I figured you knew all this shit.
Such a fucking stupid thing to make a big deal out of too. Nobody cares if Carrabis just says 'my bad dude, we're never using it again starting in the next episode'. Dude has the same thin skin he makes fun of real media for having.I just looked at Kantor's twitter... wow. The response from fans and Carrabis alike is basically "eat shit asshole".
edit: if it makes you guys feel better I'm 40 and have no earthly idea what "get in the bathroom" means. Or if it means anything at all.
Put him in the bathroom is from A Bronx Tale. I have no idea what "get in the bathroom" means unless it is a misquote of that movie.I thought "put him in the bathroom" was a reference to a Bronx Tale?
You want to unlock Wallach's car door for him?I’m put in mind of how fun it would be to reenact a different scene from that movie with these guys.
He’s one of the great ones. You want to unlock Wallach's car door for him?
I listened to a minute or two on the way home from dropping my kids off at school. And it was awful.
T&R has devolved into a hacky, cliched morning zoo. It's pretty bad.
Edit: I still won't listen to Callahan though. Fuck that guy.
It's too bad, T&R was such a breath of fresh air for the first several years they started in Boston at 104.1/ 98.5 and maybe it was just because it was new that I didn't see it but whenever I try to listen now it gets changed immediately. Rich being wacky "Can you believe so-so said this!!" schtick and Fred with his fake as hell outrage rants it utterly terrible for me now.T&R has devolved into a hacky, cliched morning zoo. It's pretty bad.

Agree 100%, I listen almost daily on my commute and it's usually better than most of the stuff out there. Mark Gemelli and Guy from Machine are still all time favorites for me.I don't listen everyday like I used to, but I still like T&R. The come up with enough genuinely funny material that I keep tuning in.
Mark Gemelli and his recliners, the "Sarge sucks" thing that snowballed unexpectedly, etc. Their weekly interviews with Mike Gorman are good radio. Blah blah blah.
Oh I agree too, I only flagged the segment because they leaned into how objectively terrible it was and I appreciate their self deprecation in that regard. It was so bad I ended up laughing through most of it at the absurdity of it all. For the most part, it's refreshing that they are still the only show that's honest with listeners that none of this shit is serious (i.e. I don't need the 10000th fake hot take from Felger that he REALLY believes this time!).Agree 100%, I listen almost daily on my commute and it's usually better than most of the stuff out there. I listen nearly every day and still really enjoy the show. A big part of that is what you said, they tend to admit when their bits and conversations are bad, and they embrace that they're just a couple of fortunate guys talking about sports and nonsense for a living. It's tough to fill 4 hours a day with content and I respect that they don't resort to the stupid tropes that 99% of sports radio does. Sure they do some stuff that doesn't land but I don't think it's fair to call them a morning zoo.Oh I agree too, I only flagged the segment because they leaned into how objectively terrible it was and I appreciate their self deprecation in that regard. LOL, I'm not sure about that bolded part. The older I get the more I want to vent and rant about.Fred and Rich are aging along with us. They’re not in their early 30s now - they’re solidly middle age, more secure with good contracts, and stable situations. Rich isn’t going to the Fens these days, nor should he. Fred has covered a lot of territory, rant wise, in his time on the air - and there’s only so much bluster you can summon as you get older. It’s a pretty great achievement for a radio career to get where they are with any modicum of authenticity. I’ll forgive them a bit for being a little hacky at times - I trust them pretty implicitly at this point.
It’s too bad they’re kind of tied to the morning commercial radio format - I’d listen to a T&R long form podcast religiously. (You can kind of make one out of their daily shows by picking judiciously, but still - imagine an hour with Gorman, entertainment figures etc). But I guess their value in being in that morning spot is worth the trade off.
Yeah, didn't somebody catch Fred a few years back on the old Comcast tv show skimming this thread? Gotta love that he's a SOSH lurker!Hi Fred!!!!!
Either someone sent this to him or he read it here but T&R were talking about whether or not to replay this bit around 8:00 and Fred said someone either emailed him or said they were "Hacky and doing Morning Zoo".
