Beyond meteor/earthquake/sinkhole, I think I might be rooting for the Broncos tomorrow. That will be very difficult
That's a tough one; a Denver loss and the Patriots have two game advantage for HFA, but a Pittsburg loss will be another nail in their coffin to knock them out of the playoffs as in all likelyhood, they'd come here in round two of the playoffs.

Six of one, half dozen of the other.

True, they stunk on ice then, but as a kid, that's when I became a fan of the NFL and the Patriots with that Pat Patriot logo on the helmet and the all white uniforms.
Actually the Pats '75-80 had pretty good teams, and if not for getting boned by Ben Dreith may have won a SB.

Fuck me. Rooting for the Cowboys to win is impossible. Rooting for them to lose is even worse.

If we take care of business vs TEN/BUF/MIA and get/stay healthy, nobody in the AFC can touch us.

The 74 team was pretty good too, started out 6-1, ended up 7-7, then in 75 they went 3-11, then in 76 they turned it around and went 11-3 thanks largely to the players they drafted with the picks they got in the Plunkett trade.

That 76 team was loaded and yes, they got fucked by Dreith; had they won that game (and they should have), they woud have beaten a banged up Steelers team and then won their first Super Bowl vs the Vikings. Had that happened, have to wonder if Fairbanks would have stayed here. They were a good team in 78 too, but the nonsense that went on at the end of the year when Fairbanks was going to leave torpedoed that team.

Between the 75 World Series, the 76 Dreith game, the 78 collapse and the playoff game loss to the MFYs and the 79 too many men on the ice Bruins game vs the Canadiens, it's a miracle I survived being a Boston sports fan.

And you're leaving out the Fisk/Lynn/Burleson debacle thanks to Haywood and the John Y. Brown debacle.
No wonder Boston loved Larry Bird so much. He saved us from a lot of misery.

Man, I hate rooting for the Cowboys. And I have to root for the Steelers too. The ultimate bandwagon teams (not directed at their real fans on this board).

How do you think I felt rooting for a Pete Carroll coached team in the Super Bowl?

Add in Iran hostages, energy crisis, an epic blizzard and a boycott of the summer games, and it was a great time to come of age!

Punting from the 40 sucks. I'm not convinced that it's better to go for it on fourth and long, but on fourth and short it has to be a better proposition right?

As soon as McFadden got tackled at the 10, I had a feeling it was trouble. With a green QB you're better off at the 20 or inside the 5 so you can run. There's a reason you never see vets throw shoulder high passes from the 10 yard line right into the middle of the end zone.
