There's a good dent in many of my brackets. Oof.

I gotta think that's the kind of loss that hits most people.

Not too many are going to have Iowa St losing in first or second game.

I've got SMU in the S16, sucka!

Of course, now they will probably lose to UCLA.

Bracket killer.

Also, after much success betting on the tournament last year, I am off to an awe inspiring 0-2 on what I thought were 2 of the easier games to pick today.  Great things to come I am sure.

A number of the momentum calls seemed to go against NU - including all the way back from when they first cut the 10 point lead down to 2 and the blocking call against them. A couple of ticky tack calls when you consider the physical play of ND defensively. And that call on the Jackson play was beyond atrocious. The play at the end when Ford had the ball and didn't see the wide open pass into the corner was simply numbing. Not getting a shot off at the end was heart breaking given how they had competed.

Couple of thoughts:
1) The NU coach got burned there on the swapping of offense/defense to protect Eatherton at the end. He wasn't on the floor to tie the game because of it. The MMQB in me thinks with 29 seconds or so left at the last swap he probably should have gambled and left him in for the duration.
2) I haven't seen a lot of him, but Ford didn't seem to want the ball with the game on the line. I don't know if it was the bright lights or the quality of the defense or what.

Kevin Ware, he of one of the worst sporting injuries ever televised in high definition, plays for Georgia State. Good to see him out there.

UAB was 16-15 after the regular season and finished in 5th place in CUSA, not receiving a bye in conference tourney.

So far it looks like five thirty eight was right that the 3 seeds are unusually shitty this year.

I'm in three different pools, but I didn't have the University of Alabama at Birmingham whoever the fuck their called beating Iowa State in any of them and naturally, in all three I've got Iowa State going far in the tournament.

Balls.

Sure, but the bracket I care about....

I'm in two different pools, one with a 10 dollar entry and one with a 40 dollar entry. I did 8 and 5 respectively. I had UAB in 3 of the 13. Just normal diversification luck.

I guess this is where only paying attention to ACC basketball helped me, because I had Iowa St losing to SMU because Larry Brown and I had no idea the Big 12 was supposedly a good conference this year.

Get Hard looks hysterical; usually in the previews, they show all the funniest bits and so far, of the three different versions I've seen, nothing looks remotely funny.

Will Ferrell should wear a mask and carry a gun, I'm stunned he makes a living as a comedic actor.

Right.  Some of us only did one pay-in pool, if you can believe it.  Not everyone will put down nearly $300 on bracket pools.
My father did an auction style draft with about a dozen people.  You auction off teams and actually pay the amount of money you bid for a team.  Kentucky went for $800.  Yes, $800.

We have another 3 seed losing right now too.  The 3 seeds all looking awful in the first round.
Or maybe the Big 12 just sucks.

I'm surprised they didn't feed him more throughout the game. He was the CAA player of the tournament. I thought it was more of a coaching thing than anything else.

NU played hard but choked in the end.
I'm so sick of seeing this game over and over. At least we have the CAA championship.

I would guess around 50% had them losing by the second round (most to SMU).

Well sure, but even so most people aren't really picking the 1s, 2s, and 3s to lose their first game.

Larry Brown hasn't slept in 2-3 days because he's had a continuous case of the hiccups. At his age, wouldn't the concern have to be heart issues?

I feel good for UAB. They had their football team ripped away from them by the University of Alabama trustees (read: Tuscaloosa) this year.

Yeah.

And it's why every single year lots of us prefer another mid-major to get a bid over teams like this year's UCLA, Texas, Indiana teams.

I'd guess a bit lower, but either way--then they'd likely get fan favorite Gonzaga. So, yeah, if you had them to the Final 4 that sucks, but if it's Sweet 16, it's not a huge deal.

And either SMU or UCLA will be the seed line favorite in that game now (versus #14 UAB), so in a pool like Murphy's no one is getting the upset bonus anymore. We're only losing a few points.
