Facebook advertises a lot of dumb baseball sites to me and there's been a pretty heavy Trevor Bauer presence, followed by a billion comments of how people want him not their team.

I'm not exactly sure he doesn't deserve another chance, though he's clearly a shithead--I believe in second chances. But I sure as shit don't want him on my team, because I don't want to root for him. I'd rather lose.

A sampling of Theo Von’s recent podcast guests over the past 6 months includes Trevor Bauer, Tim Dillon, Sean Strickland, Dana White, Tucker Carlson, Jordan Peterson and RFK, Jr. Not to go all V&N, but I don’t see a reason for me to listen to this one.
And added noted groomer Chris D'elia as a co-host. Seems great.

Is this a new thing? I haven't seen/heard anything about it. We're probably wading into V&N territory a bit much here and need to break this out.
D'elia was credibly accused a few years ago a few years ago and more recently as well.

It's unsurprising that Bauer would find a sympathetic ear in that particular podcast, and probably doesn't really help his cause with the people that matter as far as his career goes.

Sorry, I knew about the D'Elia thing. I was referring to him being named Theo Von's podcast co-host.

Bauer continues to light whatever is left of his baseball career on fire. Over the weekend he apparently sicced his attorneys on Craig Calcaterra for “defamatory statements”.
Mind you Craig was an lawyer himself in a past life

Craig wrote about in on his blog

For anyone who missed it: Trevor Bauer sicced his attorneys on me over the weekend. I wasn't fucking having it. That pathetic fuck needs to do better than that and, folks, he doesn't have better than that.

I had to extricate myself from a conversation with a parent on my kids hockey team yesterday
He started talking about why he's so confused that no MLB team hasn't signed Bauer. He did nothing wrong and wasn't even charged

After telling him there is a fairly good reason 30 teams are passing on the guy, he kept trying to make his own point that the girl totally baited him. Just read the texts, he says
I held it together long enough to tell him that if the Red Sox signed Bauer, I would be done with the team immediately, but I was in shocked to even have this conversation
It had started with him discussing the Ohtani stuff and how the league was going to sweep it under the rug and went south from there. I quickly found somewhere else to be once he started talking about Bauer

Sometimes being known as a big baseball guy in my town sucks

This is pretty telling, if true.

McHenry was a DC-area sports reporter on TV and then got cancelled for being a total asshole to a tow-lot attendant. She pivoted to being a right-wing grifter and went on Fox News as a talking head.

That she's saying this kinda stuff is pretty bad for Bauer, and she's alienating her fan base with it.

I'm happy that he's not in the MLB, but every time this thread gets bumped I die.

To clarify, the guy hasn't pitched in the MLB since his shortened 2021 season. I'm not trying to thread police but I just don't get the obsession with following him and his career outside of the MLB.

He also pitched badly early on in Japan last year and then did really well, so these celebrations of his demise in other leagues are seriously premature.

There was a decently loud movement about "Why hasn't he been signed by a Major League team?" this spring on the part of him and many others. The argument was that talent alone should have been reason enough to sign him. If he's getting lit up in Mexico, that removes a major part of those people's rhetorical arsenal and we get one step closer to never hearing from him again.

He's pitched a whopping 3.2 innings in Mexico.

To be fair going off on SSS is nothing new for this board. :)

But can we stop with the postings from some random Twitter fools? It's way too much and it's endemic on this board in every forum.
What are you talking about? I bypass baseballsavant and go straight to Infield Fly Girl for all my in depth baseball analysis.

If I had to guess, it's because those who think he's a schmuck also hope that he's a lit-up schmuck.

Miami (oh, Miami!)
Huh. He's apparently singed a 5 game deal with the Diablos Rojos team. That's 5 starts between April 11 and May 8.

As sort of an extended spring training, so he can be signed by some MLB team.

So he has only 4 games, and the corresponding number of tweets and social media posts to alienate the Mexican fans.

I guess felony fraud charges have been brought against the other woman that was accusing him of assault, so now he's claiming everyone agrees he's 100% innocent and wants to be signed to an MLB team.

https://x.com/BauerOutage/status/1780338438794854527

Kind of gross that he goes from being relaxed, somewhat okay with the reality of the situation in the Theo Von podcast, and now he's back to his woe-is-me attitude that makes him cancerous in the first place.

Probably should go the Rodgers route at this point and try an Ayahuasca retreat to see if that mellows him out and makes him acceptable to MLB front offices.

I wouldn't bother normally, given that there were 4 women accusing him. But I was curious to see how he framed it to deceive you like this. He said "2 women have taken legal action against me."

He's pathetic and transparent. I turned it off after 15 seconds.

IFG is a great follow on all matters Cubs.
She is. And on Taiwanese baseball, and in general. She is great and I've been following her for years.

Singed indeed. He had a tweet yesterday or the day before saying he's signed to pitch for 5 games for the Mexican team and that he's got offers from several Japanese (mystery) teams. If he doesn't get picked up by an MLB team, he'll likely take one of the Japan offers. I don't think they actually exist, but who knows.

Seems to have done a bit better in his second outing.

MEXICO CITY -- Trevor Bauer had 14 strikeouts on Sunday, matching a Mexican League record with nine in a row as the Diablos Rojos del Mexico defeated the Bravos de Leon 4-0.

The 33-year-old Bauer, trying to return to the major leagues, equaled a Mexican League mark set by Jose Ramon Lopez in 1964 and tied by Gary Williams in 1979.

Bauer pitched six scoreless innings with one walk to earn his first win of the season. He signed a five-game contract with the Diablos Rojos.

No analysis from Infield Fly Girl yet. Maybe tomorrow.
