Hell, they didn’t give Lawrence Guy a farewell tweet, and contributed exponentially more on the field and in the community.

Fuck! I missed it!
For leaving. For what exactly? Setting the franchise back at least 5 years?

Not sure where else to put this, plus its Zolak, but it sounds like there are signings or trades happening in the next 48 hours.
That would be one iron for sure. And the fire went out.so was this a reference to the abortive chase for Ridley?
Good! Lock it down and draft and develop along the line. LT still a big need, but everyone knows that. It's probably why to me J.Williams is the biggest miss in FA so far. He's at least playable there, and his contract was not excessive.
And BC's is March 22nd...For interested parties,
UNC's pro day is March 28th.
LSU's pro day is April 6th.
Harvard's pro day was last week, sorry if you missed it.
As far as I can tell none yet, this site is pretty decent, they have no top 30s for NEHave we heard about any top 30 visits for the Pats yet? Starting to hear about some for other teams.
Zappe comes off as corny and a try hard, but being liked by the guys around you is a huge part of being a quarterback in the NFL, for better or worse. He's not a good player, but he apparently has that part down pat.Obviously this isn’t happening, but I get the feeling that the WR’s don’t miss Mac lol.

Doing that last year might have helped Mac with his progressions.WR's now wearing 1,2,3
Reagor #1
Osborn #2

Didn't Onwenu struggle when played at RT last year, or am I misremembering? Is the thinking that keeping him there for the whole year will be better and it's easier to get more help inside?
He's never really had an offseason and preseason to prep to play tackle. He and Sidy Sow played decently well together on the right side. Gotta find a LT obviously, but 4 of the 5 OL spots should at least be....okay.Didn't Onwenu struggle when played at RT last year, or am I misremembering? He started the last 11 at RT and I think he did help stabilize the line. The wheels were beginning to come off at LT and LG by that point, Sow could not pick up a stunt, and the damage was done to Mac Happy Feet anyways, but he held down his job as I recall.Didn't Onwenu struggle when played at RT last year, or am I misremembering? He struggled with some speedier DEs at times, some of which were pretty ugly whiffs. As DJ alluded to he may look better with a full offseason to prep at RT, have to imagine a more stable OL coach and overall OL situation will help too.Didn't Onwenu struggle when played at RT last year, or am I misremembering? Sow is going to need to get a lot better in pass pro, he was awful last year.I would expect that Sow’s continued growth as RG will help Onwenu as an RT as he can focus more attention on the outside rushes.
Was much better the final third of the season across the board.Sow is going to need to get a lot better in pass pro, he was awful last year.
Exactly my point. Sow improved a lot over the course of the season, and I expect a big improvement going into Year 2 with the knowledge that that is where they will have him slotted. Was much better the final third of the season across the board.
One of the stalwart Patriots posters here (I’m sorry I don’t recall which!) actually pulled scouting reports that said in pretty clear words that Sow was easily fooled. Gotta hope good coaching can help build, and Scar (and others) always says the path to success begins when you get your best five many reps on together. It’s possible only LT is new.Exactly my point. Didn’t seem to improve with pass pro specifically with stunts.Exactly my point. Sow improved a lot over the course of the season, and I expect a big improvement going into Year 2 with the knowledge that that is where they will have him slotted.
I'd take the over for the Pats.
I've read some things that say it's not quite that simple, mainly from the standpoint as guys that develop as a LT have spent their careers being a blind-side protector. Guys that develop on the right have not.In the fairly unlikely event that the Pats end up with Penix, there's nothing particularly different about being a RT protecting a LH QB than being a LT protecting a RH QB, right? For a RH RT, if the rusher is trying to go around your dominant side it's probably a little bit better for you than being a RH LT and a rusher is trying to go around your non-dominant side. But, that's probably a next to miniscule difference.
That's not what I mean, though. I'm saying if you take someone who has developed as a LT blind side protector, and move them to be a RT blind side protector is it pretty much the same? Is it any easier (or harder) to be a RT blind side protector than a LT blind side protector?I've read some things that say it's not quite that simple, mainly from the standpoint as guys that develop as a LT have spent their careers being a blind-side protector. On the board at -135, not great value IMO because five wins seems like a ceiling unless a lot of things break their way including injury luck and hitting on draft picks.I'd take the over for the Pats.
My bad, I didn't pick up that you were saying just have the guy switch sides. That's not what I mean, though. "You have so many reps on one side and it's muscle memory but then all of sudden you have do everything the other way and it feels weird," said Wirfs, who was a first-team All-Pro at right tackle in 2021 and made two Pro Bowls at that spot before jumping over to the left side.
"I think in the NFL and especially at o-line, technique is just so important and so ingrained in you and it's not just knowing the technique, it's feeling it and your feet and your weight distribution and everything like that so it's not as easy as just saying now I'm going to do it the other way," Williams said. "It takes a lot of practice and time."
"It's difficult but I think with repetition and the right mind-set, anything's possible," Sewell said about the back-and-forth. "When you switch, you have a different leg up front. ... So you have to push off a different leg every time. You have to train this leg that's been back the whole time and catching to now pushing. And then at the same time, you got to be able to have the strength enough to get back to your spot and also stay squared with your hips. Now, when I talk about hips, when you're on the left side, you kind of open more toward your outside just because you can. You have all that space to use, but then you flip over, you can't really open your left side because that's the closest path to the quarterback and now your hips are having to now be trained with your mind."
Got specific comments? And your thoughts on why those comments mean he's over his head?Boy i tell you the more i listen to Mayo the more i feel like the guy is way in over his head here. This is going to be a difficult year for him imo, just hearing him discuss certain aspects of the current roster and the draft he doesn't sound very confident in his process or i'm wondering if he even has a process at all yet, as this is just all by the seat of his pants so to speak and winging it right now.
Does anyone know if Miami moved their LT to RT when Tua started starting for them?My bad, I didn't pick up that you were saying just have the guy switch sides.
Here's one article about switching sides (may not be 100% germane, but it's something): Switching from one side of the offensive line to the other is among the NFL's underrated tough tasks (omaha.com)
Brissett alone would have gotten them (at least) a 5th win last year, and not because he is anything great. For the team to get worse would require a big regression on defense that I don't expect to happen. On the board at -135, not great value IMO because five wins seems like a ceiling unless a lot of things break their way including injury luck and hitting on draft picks.
I don’t think naming a GM really changes anything. It’s likely Wolf already knows where he stands with Kraft.Boy i tell you the more i listen to Mayo the more i feel like the guy is way in over his head here. I dont know about any of you but im preparing for a worse 2024 then 2023, i feel like the team has basically added nothing to the roster and now the coaching staff is completely unproven from top to bottom. As i thought, anyone decent free agent wanted nothing to do with coming here right now and really can't blame any player. If we dont hit in the draft we are going to be a subpar franchise for the foreseeable future, that brings me to the next point, CAN WE FREAKING NAME A GM KRAFT AND GIVE THAT PERSON A TAD BIT OF CONFIDENCE!
100% agree with everything you’ve written. To date, Mayo’s public comments have not helped his cause. We’ll see how it plays out in the long run but as of right now my confidence level is low. And I say this as someone who was ready to move on from BB and generally liked the hire at first.I don’t think naming a GM really changes anything. I do think Mayo is (obviously) the complete opposite of BB in the media relations aspect. Whether it’s just his inexperience and enthusiasm getting the better of him or he genuinely feels it’s beneficial to be so open and off the cuff when speaking, who knows.
I don’t know what there is to gain from openly and candidly talking about roster management strategy through the media. Especially when he’s not the guy actually making those decisions. I guess it’s to be more open and transparent with fans but it sets weird and false expectations so I don’t think it’s actually accomplishing anything. Personally I don’t care for his enthusiasm and wish he would keep that stuff in house but that’s probably just personal taste.
