I think Mike for a long time was convinced that his Giants had ended the Patriots' reign as a championship-caliber team. He relished that fact that Coughlin and Eli were the forces of good that had taken down evil incarnate Belichick and destroyed his legacy. I think he is angry because that's now been proven wrong. There's a thought slowly moving from his subconsciousness that the Giants are no longer a story to themselves but rather just a part of The Story of the Patriots. They are now an answer on the back of the trivial pursuit card, "Who is the only team to beat the Belichick-Brady Patriots in a Superbowl?" *(for now)*
I think he's angry because instead of the Patriots dynasty giving way to a Giants dynasty, the Giants rose, peaked, and fell and those fucking Patriots are still there. Belichick and Brady are still winning Superbowls and building their legacies as all-time greats. He's rooting for a footnote right now, and he can't stand it.
