He's able to dial it up since he knows he's only in for a short time. He can also mix his pitches up more as a reliever. Why is Pivetta more effective as a reliever? Less stress, shorter outings, or what?
Uh oh. Marlins going to start Marlining again. The Marlins already have a lead. They may just be saving their energy for tomorrow.
The last three words are superfluous.I wish OB would stopegging on Millar.
He desperately wants him to be his RemyI wish OB would stop egging on Millar.
Damn good at bat.I’d prefer commentary on Soler destroying a poor bat at home plate.
Yeah, that doesn't track. Rose gambled on teams he played for and/or managed, and likely other games as well. And, a league that has banned its best hitter ever from the Hall of Fame, now has former players/current broadcasters explaining how to gamble.
Well, neither of them plays nor manages which is kind of the point…And, a league that has banned its best hitter ever from the Hall of Fame, now has former players/current broadcasters explaining how to gamble.
My point was that the league has now married itself to gambling to the point that in-game broadcasts are showing people how to do it. Just doesn't mesh with me with the whole Rose and Black Sox brought shame to the league line of thinking. Optics, for me. No biggie.Yeah, that doesn't track. Rose gambled on teams he played for and/or managed, and likely other games as well.
If a current player or manager did the same, I suspect they'd be banned as well
FWIW, I hate it too, Smitty. My point was that the league has now married itself to gambling to the point that in-game broadcasts are showing people how to do it. Just doesn't mesh with me with the whole Rose and Black Sox brought shame to the league line of thinking. Optics, for me. No biggie.

It possible to hate the current ties to gambling, which I do, and believe Rose and the Black Sox (except maybe Jackson and Weaver) got what they deserved, which I doMy point was that the league has now married itself to gambling to the point that in-game broadcasts are showing people how to do it. Fair enough, at the end of the day it really matters so very little. It possible to hate the current ties to gambling, which I do, and believe Rose and the Black Sox (except maybe Jackson and Weaver) got what they deserved, which I do
That and Rose being called best hitter ever in this thread.Ted must be spinning in his storage freezer with all this Arraez coverage.
MLB didn’t ban Rose from the Hall of Fame. The HoF board of directors did.Fair enough, at the end of the day it really matters so very little.
Again, just feels a tad bit hypocritical on the part of MLB.
NBA, etc., are embracing gambling, too. Couldn't watch a game on TNT without Barkley making some dumb bet.But yeah, the MLB’s embrace of gambling — at the exact same time it’s trying to attract younger fans — is shitty.
Why?MLB didn’t ban Rose from the Hall of Fame. The HoF board of directors did.
But yeah, the MLB’s embrace of gambling — at the exact same time it’s trying to attract younger fans — is shitty.
Shouldn't be much longer delay...Any news on when the game might start?
Is that really true? I’m skeptical that most gamblers, never mind problem gamblers, are young people. Hardly anyone under 50 watches baseball anyways . Which I get it, is part of the point / problem. These leagues seem to think that gambling will help increase interest in their sports, I don’t buy it. Overwhelming majority of people have little interest, many of those who do lose it as quickly as they lose their money.Because gambling is predatory and young people have worse impulse control?
Because I’m old and like things the way they used to be. Get off of my lawn. Why?
That didn't take longCan't believe we don't have a member named "Insoxicated"
100% in furious agreement with this. It's absolutely gross.MLB didn’t ban Rose from the Hall of Fame. The HoF board of directors did.
But yeah, the MLB’s embrace of gambling — at the exact same time it’s trying to attract younger fans — is shitty.
Ha, fair enough. And I don’t disagreeBecause I’m old and like things the way they used to be. Get off of my lawn.
Seriously, I don’t mind sports gambling at all. I dislike the promotion of sports gambling during games, by announcers.Ha, fair enough. And I don’t disagree
Totally agree. Talking about gambling (and fantasy) is really boring. Discussing any topic that 85-90% or more of the audience doesn’t care about is a waste of time and brings down the whole broadcast. Announcers don’t even know what they are talking about.Seriously, I don’t mind sports gambling at all. I dislike the promotion of sports gambling during games, by announcers.
