And, a league that has banned its best hitter ever from the Hall of Fame, now has former players/current broadcasters explaining how to gamble.

Is there anything more DOB than remarking on the dark clouds and noting that there's no rain yet, then a rain delay a batter later?

Yeah, that doesn't track. Rose gambled on teams he played for and/or managed, and likely other games as well.
If a current player or manager did the same, I suspect they'd be banned as well

My point was that the league has now married itself to gambling to the point that in-game broadcasts are showing people how to do it. Just doesn't mesh with me with the whole Rose and Black Sox brought shame to the league line of thinking. Optics, for me. No biggie.

FWIW, I hate it too, Smitty.

It possible to hate the current ties to gambling, which I do, and believe Rose and the Black Sox (except maybe Jackson and Weaver) got what they deserved, which I do

Fair enough, at the end of the day it really matters so very little.

Again, just feels a tad bit hypocritical on the part of MLB.

MLB didn’t ban Rose from the Hall of Fame. The HoF board of directors did.

But yeah, the MLB’s embrace of gambling — at the exact same time it’s trying to attract younger fans — is shitty.

Because gambling is predatory and young people have worse impulse control?
Is that really true? I’m skeptical that most gamblers, never mind problem gamblers, are young people. Hardly anyone under 50 watches baseball anyways . Which I get it, is part of the point / problem. These leagues seem to think that gambling will help increase interest in their sports, I don’t buy it. Overwhelming majority of people have little interest, many of those who do lose it as quickly as they lose their money.

100% in furious agreement with this. It's absolutely gross.

Seriously, I don’t mind sports gambling at all. I dislike the promotion of sports gambling during games, by announcers.
Totally agree. Talking about gambling (and fantasy) is really boring. Discussing any topic that 85-90% or more of the audience doesn’t care about is a waste of time and brings down the whole broadcast. Announcers don’t even know what they are talking about.
