I usually have an extra and offer it here for a donation to the Jimmy Fund. In the past, a member donated $25 or more for it. I would prefer to trade for a donation to a good cause vs a $5 Amazon card.

VPN has worked to stream local games on our smart TV.

@YTF, are you a new member to MLBPAA and, if so, have you received your MBLTV discount yet? I started to sign up as a new member today and received the following message: "IMPORTANT NOTE: MLB.TV 50% discount applies to 2024 season for renewing MLBPAA members only (not applicable to new fan memberships). Renewing members will receive information to redeem one unique code provided during the calendar year upon renewal. Available while supplies last."
Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences. MLBPAA looks like a good organization, and I'll join as a $25 first-time member. I'll post an update if I receive an MLBTV discount code.

EDIT: I just joined and received the following (does not look promising):

Thank you for your payment of $25.00 to the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association (MLBPAA) towards your Homerun Fan membership. Thank you sincerely for your generous support of the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association (MLBPAA). We are thrilled to have you as a member of the MLBPAA family. Your support fuels our mission.
As a reminder, and as noted on the payment page, MLB.TV 50% discount for the 2024 season only applies to renewing MLBPAA members only (not applicable to new fan members). Renewing members will receive information to redeem one unique code provided during the calendar year upon renewal. Available while supplies last.
Here's what you can expect:
  • Homerun Fan Members will receive a digital membership ID card via e-mail within one to two weeks. This card will also include a convenient link to access the MLBPAA membership benefits catalog.
  • Grand Slam Fan and All-Star Fan Members will receive a membership package in the mail, including a membership ID card, within the next 2-3 weeks.
  • All members can access member benefits now at http://baseball.mlbpaa.com/myaccount.
Once again, thank you for your invaluable support. We look forward to sharing the excitement of baseball with you as a cherished member of the MLBPAA. If you have any further questions or need assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. Enjoy the upcoming season!
Sincerely,
Jim Thome
MLBPAA President
Just wanted to post an update here. @MFYankees, I am also a first time subscriber, but as you'll notice, the thank you note that I received (see post #841) was slightly different than your's and makes no mention of needing to be a previous member to be eligible for the 50% off code. After waiting 3-4 days I contacted the MLBPAA and mentioned that I hadn't received my code and was looking forward to creating an account and watching their content. The following day I received a follow up stating that the offer was only available to repeat members and that they would be happy to refund my membership price if I wanted. I responded (nicely) attaching the email that I received noting that there was no mention of previous membership being a requirement and also assuring them that I was happy to contribute to the MLBPAA no matter what the outcome of our correspondence was and thanked them for their consideration in the matter. Yesterday I received my discount code and just finished setting up my account which went smoothly. Hopefully you can touch base with the MLBPAA and get a similar outcome. Good luck.

I have been able to watch Spring Training games on MLB.TV this year. This has not been true in previous years. I have been using the T-Mobile method since it was made available.

I think it's been a regular thing that the previous year's subscription gets you the first week or so but they cut it off sometime in the beginning of March.

Not exactly MLB.tv related, but does anyone know if you can stream MLB Network without cable or one of the major streaming services that happen to carry it? We have YoutubeTV and it’s not available on there. I don’t really understand why they don’t just put it on MLB.tv, but it’s MLB we are talking about.

Exactly why I can't get myself to cut the cord. Seems like every streaming service is missing something important.
I’ve been laughed at numerous times for saying I was considering going back to traditional cable. I’m having to maintain far too many streamers at this point and I’m not saving any money.

So I’m thinking about subscribing to MLB TV for the first time in a while. Figured while I’ll be up at nights doing some class work, it would be cool to have the games on in the background. Literally what baseball is perfect for.

I did a little price shopping and it looks to me like MLB with a VPN is still the route to go. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing anything.

NESN360 is the same price monthly. YouTubeTV is more expensive monthly. For reference, I don’t have cable.

Yeah, but just wait and buy one of the T-Mobile subs off slickdeals for $5 (either this Tuesday or next, not sure if the timing of the Korea series is pushing that deal forward).

It looks like the deal will go live the 26th and the Korea series won't have any effect on when they offer. Because those games will be on ESPN they wouldn't be on MLB TV even if the offer went live tomorrow.

Couple of questions about the T-Mobile MLB.TV offer:

1.) I have a T-Mobile plan with three numbers, covering my wife and two sons. Will I get three codes? Or one code that works on all three lines?
2.) My my wife and sons are on T-Mobile, my work-provided mobile device is Verizon. Can I use a T-Mobile code on my Verizon phone? On my non-WiFi iPad? On my Apple TV?

I had paid for MLB.TV for years, but finally dawning on me I should take advantage of the free subscriptions sitting in the T-Mobile account.

I assume it's just one code per account, but mlb.tv hasn't pulled the account sharing crackdown crap so far, so everyone should be able to log in regardless of device.

You will receive one code for your account and you can log in on any of your devices with your mlb.tv account. T-Mobile just provides you with a code that re-activates your subscription for free. As long as you can access mlb.tv or the app, you'll be good to go and should be able to have multiple users watching at the same time.

Each T-Mobile line gets a code - unless they change the rules this year. It's also been a code per line in the past.

You can use that code on each phone to generate an account. I know people with family plans that make $60/year selling the six individual codes their plan gets.

I did not realize this. Guess I’ll be selling or gifting my wife’s code going forward.

EDIT: My wife's code has been claimed if I can figure out how to access it to make the transfer.

Looks like the rest of spring training is free for those that don't have an active membership waiting for the T-Mobile free year on Tuesday.

Got a "coming soon" email from T-Mobile about MLB.tv. Looks like 3/26 is when the codes will come out.

So for clarity, the codes don’t require using a T-Mobile app or device, it’s just enter the code you get off slickdeals, and you use it like you would otherwise normally use MLB TV?

Right. You send them an Amazon GC via email and they send you a PM (or email I guess) with the code. You then use that code to activate your membership using your own login info.

Anybody else having an issue where MLB.tv is not working on your PC? It works on my phone fine, but on all of my browsers on the PC I get an error: 'The content you requested is not available. Please try again later. Please click "Learn More" if you require assistance. '

I have tried rebooting, logging out and back into my account, I am not currently running a VPN or anything like that which MLB might have blocked. I really am at a loss here.

Could it be a location access issue? Maybe MLB.TV is looking to verify your location and can’t in the browser due to permissions?

I don't think so. It worked two days ago and I haven't changed any of my settings. I have also tried with my VPN on and using multiple different locations on it. It is happening for every game, which is double annoying since they are all free today.

Yeah, it's really weird. I don't know what is going on with it. Oh well.

MLB doesn't have any live support right now, either, so that was unhelpful.
I'd try the whole clear cookies/history thing. It's annoying to have to relog for all your accounts, but it may work here.

I’ve had a problem at the start of each season moving between my mobile ap and browser the last couple years, and deinstalling and then reinstalling the MLB ap fixed it - I found I somehow had different passwords at each
Looks like this did it, thanks!

Wooohoo found out a relative switched to TMobile who doesn’t watch baseball. Saves the bureaucracy (never done it before) and $5+ for me!

edit: it seems like bureaucracy for the other person. I’ll just do it the traditional way I guess.

Soooo, do you just go into the comments section on SD and ask for a code like a savage or is there an actual posting?

There are pages and pages of people begging for codes. I doubt very much that a lot of them will get a message from someone with a code. I would park yourself in the thread and pm a few people as soon after they post their offer as possible. Eventually you’ll connect with someone.

Yep. The going rate is $5. Offer $10 and people will probably PM you.

You can only post a limited number of PMs (2 I think). So, send one of your responders the AGC (or send to their email) and they'll PM you a code and a link from Tmobile.

Make sure you have your MLB Ap up to date. Open the link you were sent via your phone and it will automatically open the ap. You'll have to click an activate button, but then you're good to go.

How do I access my wife’s code? I was able to activate mine through the TMobile Tuesday app or whatever it’s called on iPhone. When I clicked activate, it took me straight to my MLB app so no code was entered.

She probably needs to download the t-life app on her phone, it will redirect to MLB but also copy the actual code to the clipboard.

I get two DMs every 6 hours to try and orchestrate an anonymous internet trade? Sheesh.
