Mullets lasted so long in earnest that they came back in popular ironic fashion againI have been wishing this thread into existence from the moment the question appeared. I remain oddly focused on the person who identified ‘my own’.

What counts as qualifying for ERA?92 Wins.
It's a high volatility team, but I'm tired of the constant poo-pooing. So, 92 Wins.
I'm going with the idea that the health coin-flips will be positive for the 2023 Sox in a 2021 way - and there's a lot of upside to nearly everyone on the roster. I think the team is well-balanced for a Cora "starters play through the game" type offense. With health, the starters are better than last year (alas, alas, wither thou Wacha), and the bullpen will be surprisingly strong.
I think they'll be in the mix with the weaker schedule and the stronger farm system will translate into a Schwarber-like shore up for the final run.
I think the new rules will also benefit the team overall given youth, speed, and contact. But the Achilles heel will be strikeouts.

One inning per team game played, so in a normal season,162 innings. What counts as qualifying for ERA?
(this is where I'm at on the spreadsheet so far)
I know what counts in real life...I found it odd that the person who wrote the question chose Schreiber, though, & wondered if there were different rules for this competition. One inning per team game played, so in a normal season,162 innings.

Sox aren't going to steal many bases if a guy on the 60 day DL is going to lead the team in stolen bases!#6 -Team leader in Stolen Bases?
Adalberto Mondesi 36
Kiké Hernandez 13
Trevor Story 5
Jarren Duran 4
[no answer] 4
Alex Verdugo 3
David Hamilton 2
Cedanne Rafaela 1
Christian Arroyo 1
Last year, Story led the team with 13 followed by Xander with 8. Mondesi had 20 steals in 50 games over the past 2 seasons. He’s hurt A LOT, but he steals a ton of bases when he plays. 133 SB in 358 career games.Sox aren't going to steal many bases if a guy on the 60 day DL is going to lead the team in stolen bases!
No they're not. I just had a brain-fart.I know what counts in real life...I found it odd that the person who wrote the question chose Schreiber, though, & wondered if there were different rules for this competition.
Ah - but this is a tie-breaker question, not a "accurately predict the most likely outcome out of a 100 simulated seasons" question. As such, people have already picked the win total they expect based on their own guess as to how the season will unfold. If you are picking low numbers, you should probably assume significant injury to key players.#2 Team leader in Saves?
Kenley Jansen 64
Tanner Houck 4
Garrett Whitlock 1
This one might have been more fun as "Besides Kenley Jansen, who will lead the Red Sox in saves?"
No problem - actually took a lot less time than I thought it would to compile. I'll post the rest later today. No they're not. I just had a brain-fart.
And thank you for doing this JM3 - very cool to see the pics aggregated like this.
No shade. I appreciate you organizing this & the work put in. I just find things with a wider range of answers more fun. Even if this method is superior for picking the proper winner of the No Prize.Ah - but this is a tie-breaker question, not a "accurately predict the most likely outcome out of a 100 simulated seasons" question. (Another purpose of touching on the traditional categories is to get people to seriously consider who we're fielding. I hope it somewhat discourages hip-shot win picks.)
It’s funny to see Verdugo (15 career SB) and Hernandez (13) on this list. Interesting that it should be easier to steal bases this year, but the current roster doesn’t seem like one that will be able to do much in that regard.Sox aren't going to steal many bases if a guy on the 60 day DL is going to lead the team in stolen bases!
I think it was actually 3 or 4, but the other ones at least had a pitcher in the hitter spot so I felt comfortable switching the answers.two of us think Yoshida will pitch? Cool.
That's fine for these purposes, but FWIW, if we're down to a tie-breaker, we'll be taking a literalist approach. Your answer is your answer.I think it was actually 3 or 4, but the other ones at least had a pitcher in the hitter spot so I felt comfortable switching the answers.
Did we agree to anything about binding arbitration on disputes? Sure we're all friends now, but with No Prize on the line...That's fine for these purposes, but FWIW, if we're down to a tie-breaker, we'll be taking a literalist approach. Your answer is your answer.
If we can find 3 impartial Brewers fans, we'll set them up in a panel. . .Did we agree to anything about binding arbitration on disputes? Sure we're all friends now, but with No Prize on the line...
I too would like to amend my guess to 53 wins instead of 93.I regret 76. Should have gone 66.
While the following is not definitive, I think it's interesting to see what's possible, and what's unlikely with a month left to play. Will go through the questions & do the breakdown of answers...
Winckowski has 3 at the moment, with 6 others at 1.This one might have been more fun as "Besides Kenley Jansen, who will lead the Red Sox in saves?"
The final game before the ASB was Sunday, July 9, 2023 at Oakland.Winckowki's moustache should be the favorite here.
I am SUCH an idiot. Fuck.
Is he still twirling the ends? Last I noticed it just looked like a regular porn 'stache.Winckowki's godawful moustache should be the favorite here.
