Damn it. If you give Stidham time, he can make throws, especially on the slants. You have to get pressure on him.

Baker Mayfield is utter garbage. Go Georgia.

Here is to a lot of VY highlight videos.
Mayfield didn’t beat his girlfriend or get caught up in a hate crime; he just refuses to do the false modesty thing. That makes him “utter garbage?”

I’m usually an SEC guy, especially when it’s not Auburn, but I find myself rooting for OU. He’s fun to watch.

They take away his Hook 'em Horns license plate holder if he doesn't say that. I think it's in the membership agreement or something.

If Georgia can keep scoring, and running the ball, they can hang around. Kicking the field goal earlier was colossally stupid, instead of going for it, and that was even before they missed it. Oklahoma had fourth and a mile, but fourth and 2/3 from the 30 or so, you have to go for it when you're trying to trade scores with an offense like the Sooners.

You guys know why college football is so awesome. How many big penalties have been called? Unless something is particularly egregious, they seem to be letting the kids play, and as long as it's consistent, it works. The NFL could learn a few things.

LOL. That's not even fair. A reverse, halfback pass to the quarterback standing in the end zone. Georgia did everything they could on that goal line stand, and just couldn't account for the QB catching a touchdown.

I disagree. One of the reasons CFB has become so unbalanced is because the refs have largely given up on policing rules (offensive holding, blocking downfield) that are designed to give the defense a fighting chance. Maybe you like 4-hour, 90-point games, but I’m not a fan.

I don't particularly care if they call penalties or if they don't. I care about consistency. I don't want to see them make a massive ticky tack holding call in one situation, but not in another, which is what happens weekly in the NFL. If they are going to call DPI because a guy got there a millisecond early, then they better call it every time someone gets there a millisecond early. In college, they have seemingly decided to only call egregious obvious penalties, but they are consistent about it. And I disagree that a 25 penalty flagfest would result in a faster game. A lot.

Is anyone watching film room? Dana Holgerson said the big gainer before the last OU touchdown was brought to him to Houston from Kliff Kingsbury and the 2007 Patriots. It was a play against cover-2, but Holgorsen modified it to beat man coverage and it became an Air Raid staple. Good stuff so far.

What makes you say NCAA is unbalanced? Games are longer and have more points because teams typically get significantly more plays per game under college timing rules. (The last three years have been around 15-20% more plays in an NCAA game)

I haven’t looked at the numbers. Maybe it’s just the extra plays — which of course contributes to the absurd game length, but CFB games have been long since forever. But anecdotally, it seems like good offenses simply aren’t stoppable.
