The Hans And Franz skit was funny in the context of Arnold and East German doping weight lifters.

It makes no sense in this day and age.

I'm sure it's funny in a laughing all the way to the bank way for Carvey and Nealon.

All you really need. It's not like Green Bay's had any answer to either Harvin or Lynch/O-Line yet.

BTW, Aaron, see how Russel ran, got the first down, and then got down?

If Wilson sees the blitz, it's the automatic check down to the 4 slants pattern giving him multiple targets..  Tough to blitz him.

I saw it on the Avril sack, but Sherrod's just useless out there.  Don't they have another tight end or someone they can put out there that can at least get in the way for a millisecond?  A millisecond would be longer than he's slowing down the pass rushers lined up on the opposite side of him.  Or maybe send a RB or someone else over there to help out.

Big difference between Wilson and RG3 is that RG3 would have dove head first for the endzone, while Wilson is smart enough to get down and work from the three first and goal.

He's a big dude--if he just sprawled out on the ground he'd at least be a speed bump---that'd be more effective than what he's been doing

They are too busy burying Quarless on Richard Sherman, so Sherman can have the night off.

Where has Randall Cobb been?  This is eerily similar to the Super Bowl with one guy getting all the targets (D. Thomas/Nelson) and their other key receivers disappearing (Decker/Welker/Cobb)

Packers fans feel the same way about Ted Thompson drafting OL that Pats fans do when Belichick drafts a DB.

Why would they not give some help to the RT on that play? Just someone chipping out of the backfield or something like that.

He's been getting killed all game. I guess they thought Rodgers was going to get the ball out quickly?

God damn.  Another horrible fucking penalty for Green Bay.  Just devastating.
Killer. Ideally they're not down by 13 in the 4th but that penalty canceled GB getting the ball and a short field with 8 min left.

Week 1 is always about irrational exuberance, but the Seahawks are exceptional and Wilson is the perfect quarterback for them. It's not as close as the score. And if Bulaga can't go, the Packers are going to struggle to keep that five-year playoff streak going (tied with the Pats for longest in the league).

I get that you don't give up, but if I'm Green Bay down 20 at this point, it's Breaking Bad time, because Rodgers' blind side is exposed and he's your only chance of success this season.

What a great play call that, had Belichick done it, would've provided all kinds of fodder for tomorrow morning's supply of sports talk!
If th Pats play to the whistle, it's running up the score. Seattle does it, it's because they play hard and are good.

Spike, is that true?  I missed it if Lacy got hurt.

Rodgers missed an open guy there.  Green Bay has been called for 8 penalties tonight, and I think 6 of them have been at pretty much the absolute worst possible moment.

I said it in the Seahawks preseason thread, but if it weren't for how hard that division is, and the defenses they have to play, I think they really can run the table.  I believe they are that good, and I would have the O/U on number of wins for them around 13.5 if I was setting the number.  I think Vegas had them at 11 last week when I bet it, and IMO, that's about as close to stealing as a bet can get (obviously unless they suffer massive injuries, which they probably will because I just jinxed them with this post).  I would guess that number goes up a full point to 12 after today, if not 12.5.  I also got them at -130 to win the division, which I think is a mortal lock without injuries.

Collinsworth said Lacey got his bell rung when he drilled/got-drilled-by Chancellor and was evaluated for a concussion. The docs said t was conclusive, so he sat the rest of the game.

Makes sense to me. In a week where you don't have an obviously great game, let the A crew stay at home.

Seattle looks like a 15-1 team right now

Denver and New England fans only hope is some lucky team ZONA SF knocks out Seattle at home or Seattle turned it over 3 times while the other team play a perfect game

Why would either team care?

They might end up 15-1 if they could play every game at home. But...

I agree. Who cares how good NFC teams are. If the Pats make the SB, it's because they're good enough to give any team a run for their money on a neutral field. It's the rest of the NFC, who face the prospect of having to beat Seattle at home to REACH the SB, who should be panicking.

for my own amusement, thought I'd post my picks:

Green Bay Packers (+5.5) at Seattle Seahawks: I had the 'hawks...trust me!
New Orleans Saints (-3) at Atlanta Falcons:  Saints in a blow out.
Minnesota Vikings (+4) at St. Louis Rams: Vikings -- tough call for me, but I don't see how the Rams score many points.
Cleveland Browns (+6.5) at Pittsburgh Steelers:  Browns call me a Hoyer believer, plus the Browns should have a good defense.
Jacksonville Jaguars (+10) at Philadelphia Eagles: Jags, I think they're one of those teams that will lose a lot of close games this year.
Oakland Raiders (+5.5) at New York Jets: Raiders, Geno will be better, but that secondary.....
Cincinnati Bengals (+1.5) at Baltimore Ravens: Bengals -- one of the easiest calls this week.
Buffalo Bills (+7) at Chicago Bears: Bills  -- not sure why i'd pick a team that is self-destructing in pre-season, but the Bears defense just seems bad.
Washington Redskins (+3) at Houston Texans: Texans, off the RGIII bandwagon (and right back on if he has a good game).
Tennessee Titans (+3.5) at Kansas City Chiefs: Titans -- pretty good team the weeks Locker is healthy.
New England Patriots (-4.5) at Miami Dolphins -- Pats, a TD game, but the Fins just have too many guys out.
Carolina Panthers (+1) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Bucs, an easy call (especially if Newton is out).
San Francisco 49ers (-4.5) at Dallas Cowboys: Cowboys - they're not as bad as people say, and that's a fuckload of injuries the 49ers have.
Indianapolis Colts (+7.5) at Denver Broncos: Broncos. Another easy pick. A lot of points, but the Colts aren't that good. The Broncos are that good.
New York Giants (+5) at Detroit Lions: Lions in a cakewalk.
San Diego Chargers (+3) at Arizona Cardinals: Cardinals - really tempted by the Chargers, as I think AZ takes a step back this season, but may as well go with the home team.

Looking at those picks in macro, obviously going way too often for visitors. But what the hell.

I'm so ready to watch some football.

I'm being forced to watch ESPN right now. When did Sal Pal start trying to be Dick Vitale?
