With Devey being traded, I never have to hear about Felger complaining about the tuba player ever again.
I was only able to listen for a short while yesterday but he won't let go of the "Belichick is being protected for some reason" theme. Adam Jones and he were talking about the Volin article. From that Felger deduced that the league and Wells has something on Bill but couldn't present it. Jones asked him to clarify and he did, saying that "they have something but can't get it because the league and Wells don't have subpoena power."HomeBrew1901 said:Got back from vacation and turned on the show yesterday and enjoyed if for the first time in a while.
Felger did speak about Deflategate but he was much more reasoned about what's going on with the proceedings. He was playing it down the middle and brought up some good points about Berman and how things might go tomorrow. Much better than he was a few weeks ago when it seemed he was just stirring up shit to play the heel card.
Have you heard Marshall Hook? He's fantastic going against Felger and Mazz.Erik Hanson's Hook said:D&C&Minihane were openly shitting on them this morning. It was pretty funny. Mocked Felger stroking his beard while ignoring facts and creating his own narrative, and Tony's "You're absolutely right, Mike!" schtick.
Minihane is the one guy who I think could take down Felger in a DeflateGate debate. He is equally acerbic, smarter than you think, and clearly does not give a shit about Felger's place in this market, i.e. he wouldn't kowtow to him.
So basically.Erik Hanson's Hook said:Good call. Make it a tag team match. Hook and Minihane vs. Felger and Mazz. I'd probably get a Sirius subscription for that.
Actually, Hook & Minihane doesn't sound bad for a drive-time combo. Though Kirk seems pretty entrenched.

Even the Patriot supporters, like Hurley and Murray aren't smart or quick-witted enough to beat Felger in an argument. But if Steph Stradley or Jenkins or someone came on the show, they would destroy him with logic. Of course, I don't even think Felger is convinced the Brady would take a game story is true, but it has bought him 2 shows (and counting).
OkGorton Fisherman said:Garvey is hardly the only thing remotely close to this case. There's the Adrian Peterson case, NHLPA vs. Bettman, plenty of others. Of course, Felger never talks about those. He has started touting Garvey lately because it is the easiest thing he can find that supports his desired outcome, i.e. Brady and the NFLPA losing in court. Nearly all of his prior arguments regarding the wisdom of Brady taking this to federal court have been destroyed. Garvey gives him a glimmer of hope. At this point he's like a drowning man grasping desperately at a piece of floating wreckage.

Two weeks ago the show was unlistenable because they were baiting callers and being ridiculous. I think Felger realized that and he's been playing it completely down the middle.
I hadn't heard that before, thanks. That makes a lot of sense.Patriot_Reign said:
Felger has said before that he keeps a daily journal of what they talk about and then he compares that with the daily ratings to see where they're gaining or losing audience. I wouldn't be surprised if part of that journal included comments on the tone that they took, ie trolling or not.

I don't know what to tell you man, listen to WEEI.chonce1 said:The idea that Felger is now playing this down the middle is pretty absurd, in my view. He has to acknowledge that Berman is killing the NFL in court, but look at how he operates. He accepts the NFL leak (Brady will accept a suspension) to ESPN and disregards Howe, Rappapoart, Curran and others who report the opposite. Note, he doesn't even concede the point is disputed and if anyone dares to suggest it is, he laughs it off and says "Oh Adam Schefter is on the bad list now?" -- But Adam S has been attacked by Felger and Mazz for being laughably wrong very recently and, most importantly, it is an ESPN report about an NFL leak -- sheesh, why would be suspicious to accept that?
Today, he continues the nonsense. Consider Mort's report last night on Mara and his refusal to join settlement talks. Mort had to amend his report (without a correction) and said it was the NFL who urged Mara to not get involved. Last night, Felger (on Sports Tonight) reported on the original (wrong) report and said "let me guess Patriot honks, is Mort wrong?" Yet, Mort was wrong and instead of acknowledging that, Felger leads with that story with no mention of Mort's change of tune.
Lastly, he is right now doing a line-by-line analysis from Lester Munson. I think Munson lacks credibility, but why can't Felger (or Jim Murrary, who is just a doormat now ) also spend some time reading the persuasive arguments against Munson from the likes of Milstein, Wallach or Stradley (who Felger calls "the gal from Houston who is partial to Brady").
If he is taking notes he feels his best bet is to piss of the fans as much as possible. Even Wednesday, he admitted the court hearing was embarrsing for the NFL, but that was undeniable. But the show was -- for two whole days and counting -- about "why did Brady offer a game" and "why didn't the NFL accept it."
I don't mind if Felger thinks Brady is guilty, but the way he accepts presumptions and runs a whole show without even acknowledging the basic premise of his argument may well be entirely false is more than just trolling it is bad radio.
And yes, I know "don't listen, you know he will troll." But at this point I have been curious to see how he will spin news days like Wednesday. I have switched to dale and Holley but still end up hearing Felger's nonsense on CSNNE or whatever later the night (where he continues to saturate the airwaves with his logical fallacies).
Couldn't agree more. I think with time Jones could possibly be that guy... maybe... Bertrand for sure if he had been given the second chair as opposed to headlines guy and fill in.southshoresoxfan said:What would be great is a strong local voice who could hang and balance Felger. I want to listen because i find him more talented and charasmatic than the other shows, but having a yes man and Charlie Chaplin as his side kicks doesnt work for me.
We need a better Jerry Thronton basically to be the co host. Someone who can balance Felger while bringing the talent Felger has to the table. That would be a good show.
MillarTime said:Haven't listened in a while, but I think Jones is complete garbage. My recollection of him is frequently trying to take the contrarian view like Felger, only he's not nearly as smart or entertaining.
BigJimEd said:Never get through more than a couple minutes of the show. IMO, The two are lazy, uninformed hacks. Today was no exception.
Channel was already on for the drive home. The two of them were insinuating that JBJ's turnaround had benefited from PED usage. Got through about maybe two minutes before I switched it.
