I'm not involved, but I don't see why you have to make your pick before any games start. If you forget until right before the last game of the week and your only option is to take Newcastle over City, why not let the person do it?
It’s mostly administrative and partly a fairness issue. The players do want to see who everyone picked, and that can’t be shared until all picks are in. But then there is also the question of people getting more time to react to things like injuries. And while I agree with you about getting cornered by having only one game to pick, it seems like players should have to evaluate all the games - especially in a week like this when there are few appealing choices. And also because players are limited by the number of times they can pick a team, I don’t want someone to end up without anyone to pick by delaying.I'm not involved, but I don't see why you have to make your pick before any games start. Yeah, I've done NFL ones where you can pick any game that hasn't started yet, but it was run on the web and nobody had to keep track.Yeah I can see it as a matter of principle because running these things blows. From a competitive standpoint I don’t care at all if someone picks a match that hasn’t been played but it’s fair for the person running the league to have a deadline just to make management less of a pain
I send a link to you guys every week with the picks. I guess I’ll go ahead and let him go this week with no further leniency. And he’ll survive if Palace and Brighton draw.If you've made your call with that dude, can you tell us who the picks were?
I know you do---I checked it a little while ago and I didn't see week 6, so thought you were waiting until that situation got resolved.I send a link to you guys every week with the picks.
OT but I think we now have a big 4.Thanks @teddykgb - just trying to navigate the first few weeks without burning the big 6
And yet, with that Wolves goal, he needs a Southampton goal in next 30 minutes or he’s out.John Dolan is playing chess while the rest of us play checkers don’t know who that is but a really impressive navigation of the early season
It was a perfect jinxAnd yet, with that Wolves goal, he needs a Southampton goal in next 30 minutes or he’s out.
Seeing their midfield play I retract my earlier statement.Norwich looking alive so far.
On one hand, that’s always how they look before getting punched in the face, but I’d still be wary right now if I picked Brighton.
Yeah that’s the kind of game you need to have to get through this I think.Thrilled to survive with Brighton on the road
I had the same pick. Whew.Thrilled to survive with Brighton on the road
Surprisingly, you're the only one who took it! I probably should have myself since I haven't used Chelsea yet, but Palace was the hot pick this week (or probably more accurately, against Newcastle). There's a seeming obvious choice this week, its whether you want to burn that team or not.
After my scare last week, I needed an easy week.Surprisingly, you're the only one who took it! I probably should have myself since I haven't used Chelsea yet, but Palace was the hot pick this week (or probably more accurately, against Newcastle).
Yeah, Burnley can sometimes be a tough place to go.Feeling bad about my Brentford pick honestly. Went "first thought, best thought" there and most of my thoughts about it afterwards have been that I was hasty in picking an away team that's not that good in a not that good run of form.
Yeah, Norwich isn’t going to go winless and Leeds are in poor form.At least you didn’t take a team 1 point from relegation zone
Their #1 GK is out for 4 months too...good luck man.Feeling bad about my Brentford pick honestly. Went "first thought, best thought" there and most of my thoughts about it afterwards have been that I was hasty in picking an away team that's not that good in a not that good run of form.
Thanks for the nice words. I was *this* close to picking City myself. But I couldn’t bring myself to do so.Not how I imagined going out but at least it’s with a great win by our organizer’s boys!
This would be a very short competition. I agree that it seems a little off to accept draws, but maybe if you think about it as coming away with point(s) is more mentally satisfying? This already seems tougher than a typical NFL survivor pool, and I’m afraid it would be over very quick.Or just go straight wins.
Or a second draw eliminates you.
Fortunately (for me at least) Arsenal did win.I think after today we could technically have a winner tomorrow if Arsenal were to lose.
I know you asked via email but if I could change anything it would be to have some type of 3 strikes and you’re out draw system. There needs to be some bonus for having picked winners instead of teams who draw. Maybe 3 is too few but that’s the primary change I’d make. Or maybe if a team draws you can’t use them a 2nd time which would be evil and fun
