Good morning all - just sent out this email:

Hi Everyone

First - a Merry Christmas to all of you! I hope you're all having a great day with family and friends -- either together or virtually.

I think that I'm going to keep the pool closed for the time being. The number of fixtures on the schedule combined with the number of players unable to play, along with a dash of FA uncertainty of what even will constitute a postponed game, all makes for a pretty difficult operation for any of us to pick games.

I'm going to wait until at least one of the following has happened: a) all regularly scheduled games are played in a given game week or b) it's after the January international break

Hope you all have a great holiday season and get to enjoy the games we do get to see. Stay healthy and safe and see you all in 2022.

Jeff

I don’t think there is a January international break is there?
There are no epl games scheduled between January 3 and January 14. I assumed it was an international break, but maybe it’s FA Cup related. In any event, assuming we don’t get a full slate of games in by January 3, we will resume with the January 14 game week, assuming we have more than a couple games to choose from.

I think it's time to resume the pool. I've sent out an email to all participants, which is here:

Hello Everyone

Happy new year to you all. I hope you all had an enjoyable vacation and time off with families and friends.

We still aren't back to full schedules, but I think it's time for us to resume. We will start back with GW22, which includes a Friday night game (THE derby, El Gatwicko), as Crystal Palace heads south to play Brighton at the Amex in just over 48 hours.

I will ask that everyone provide two picks for the time being: your primary selection and a second choice that will govern only in the case that your primary game is postponed. Rules otherwise remain the same, that is your team must win or draw in order to advance to the next game week. Failure to pick a team that advances will mean elimination. Failure to make a pick on time will mean that you will get the most popular pick made by the other players during the week. Multiple failures could result in elimination....only Jurgen Klopp can get away with that :)

Please let me know if you have any questions. I'm looking forward to getting this all going again. Please send your picks by Friday at 3pm eastern to survivetheepl@gmail.com.

Here is the updated file for your reference:

There are a lot of evenly matched teams playing this weekend, and AFCON is going to make this even more difficult. So good luck to everyone! Get your picks in by 3pm Eastern on FRIDAY!

Yeah, this week was a bloodbath. 14/18 remaining players eliminated. I would have been better with the backup pick too. Next "season" may be in a couple weeks haha.

My backup pick was West Ham - glad to get an early draw out of the way this week with Brighton.

I didn't see this in the rules, but what happens if all remaining players get eliminated in the same week?

If all four remaining players were to be eliminated in the same week, they’d share the pool equally.
