OPI restrictions begin at the snap, all DPI restrictions begin only once the ball is in the air.

PI can only be called on a catchable pass that crosses the neutral zone untouched. The contact must be beyond the neutral zone. For DPI, the ball must be thrown to the receiver in question (not true for OPI).

There is no illegal contact rule in college like there is in the NFL. In college a DB can block a receiver for as long as the receiver could theoretically block him, i.e., as long as the receiver hasn't reached the same yard line as the DB.

This is my first game as a quasi-non-Stanford-fan. It's a strange feeling.

(I have basically disowned the university since they crushed the band under their brand managers' boot heels. It's a long story.)

? I've got time. Alma mater being a small eastern school, I've adopted Cal and Stanford out here. Unless they made band members into hamburger, guess I'm going to stay with my faves.

Bowl games have been fun, from what I've seen. Georgia today was solid and this Standford game has been cool.

Some pretty ugly situational football by Stanford secondary - letting guys free downfield with a semi-short field

I found it on SNY. Weird. Also, it's an hour behind. I'm seeing 7-3. So forget that one.
That's strange. I found it on SNY as well, but my NESN extra channel has it in real time. And it's become a ball game now. Air Force just score 15 points in the last minute and a half of the first half to tie the game 21-21.

Looks like FSU might have a book on Brown. He will adjust but familiarity from the ACC days seems to be a benefit.

Meh - doubt that given that bc d did well vs fsu

Combo of the fact that peppers is missed and fsu is a damn good team

Maybe but the best way to attack Brown is to see if you can use his aggressiveness against him and that's what they're doing.

Losing a top ten draft pick who plays a key position in the brown d shouldn't be overlooked though.

Bad performance though - not dodging that...just not sure anyone has figured brown out, so to speak

You can still root for the football team while loathing the administratiom. I can talk to you at length about this while we watch a Brown hockey game one day.

Man, Michigan is looking about as pedestrian as a #6/coulda-been-in-the-playoffs team can. The FSU defense is much better than I realized. Of course, primarily watching B1G FB has skewed my perspective.

Peppers is also just that good. He was the single best player on the field in the OSU-Michigan game, and accounted for an absurd number of big plays in the blowout at Penn State.

Half surprised Harbaugh isn't sending him out there for 30-50% of defensive snaps anyway.

Just like we found with most of the rules of college football, you don't seem to understand the common practice for injury disclosure.

Please inform me. I bow to your infinite knowledge

Also, explain to me again how tackling a receiver isn't PI. I need your brilliance to get me through the day.

Quite a few schools won't say anything about injuries, citing HIPAA concerns. I don't know what Michigan's policy is, but there's certainly no reporting requirement like in the NFL.

I don't like harbaugh's decision to go for two there. Still early - kick the EP

He wasn't tackled, he tripped over his own man and the explanation is literally at the top of the page.

A month later and still whining. You can't spell "Michigan" without b-I-t-c-h.

I agree. Way too early. I also don't like Hurst's decision to celebrate the sack while the ball rolls around. Annoying back to back plays.
