Why of why would you throw Hamilton a FB over the plate?  Nothing but cutters, sliders and curves.

Reynolds just suggested that part of the calculus for Utley's suspension is to protect him when the team travels to NY. As if he would be in physical danger playing in NY. Reminder: Harold Reynolds is the lead analyst for MLB's largest media outlet.

Ii actually don't think he's that far off.
I could easily be wrong here but that just seems crazy to me. To take a key player out of a playoff series, presumably against the will of both the player an the team, for his own "protection" does not strike me as reasonable move by MLB.

I think it's about trying to minimize, as much as possible, the hostility in NY, which could cause this to escalate more than it might otherwise.

I'm just thinking if NY has a good lead in one of the games, pretty good odds someone on LA gets drilled, regardless, then everybody will hate the Mets (but I won't).

The plays, so called slides and flying blocks, that they just showed on the telecast in my opinion were not baseball plays and I agree with Torre. Time to limit these reckless and dangerous attempts to basically take a player out. Make a player hit the ground first rather than fly straight into the infielder.

Both sides will be warned before the game and the pitchers will be on very short leashes.

That said, I agree that with a good lead the Mets will plunk someone, sadly it most likely won't be Adrian or Hot Carl.

Dodgers now have to play two games with a 24-man roster. Wonder if this factored into the length of the suspension? Would Utley get more games for same play during regular season?

Yeah .. Some poor schmuck like Seager will probably get it. This is the problem with baseball's old school payback .. Invariably innocent people get hurt in the name of retribution.

But ultimately MLB has been to blame for being so wishy washy about the enforcement .. Or non enforcement of the interference rule.

Hitting Hot Carl will only help the Dodgers. Why would you want to hit A Gon? I will always root for that guy.
