HR regards a single by Hamilton as a big "break out!" and Verducci wonders why they were silly enough to throw him a fastball. HR is a child.
Reynolds just suggested that part of the calculus for Utley's suspension is to protect him when the team travels to NY. As if he would be in physical danger playing in NY. Reminder: Harold Reynolds is the lead analyst for MLB's largest media outlet.
I could easily be wrong here but that just seems crazy to me. To take a key player out of a playoff series, presumably against the will of both the player an the team, for his own "protection" does not strike me as reasonable move by MLB.Bob Montgomery's Helmet Hat said:

The plays, so called slides and flying blocks, that they just showed on the telecast in my opinion were not baseball plays and I agree with Torre. Time to limit these reckless and dangerous attempts to basically take a player out. Make a player hit the ground first rather than fly straight into the infielder.
Both sides will be warned before the game and the pitchers will be on very short leashes.

The thing about Harold Reynolds .. I actually like him. He seems like a really personable likeable guy. That being said he says a lot of really stupid things.
