As was brought up in the game thread last night, it's a stupid ritual. Give the ball to a kid as souvenir for going to a MLB game
I think it's stupid. You don't know any little kid that would appreciate a free mlb baseball?

Agreed. It's sad when starting the 38 y/o at 2B for the 1st time in 8 years is the least foolish of the decisions.
The Scott thing is kind of unfortunate timing. I believe Schreiber is eligible to return from the 60 tomorrow, so it didn't make sense to replace Scott on the roster before tomorrow (even if he should never have been on it).
& I've also been complaining pretty vehemently regarding Kiké's continuing existence on this roster & in the lineup.
Hopefully today is the end of the line for both with Schreiber & Reyes ready to come back.
I'm not sure if you're saying he does need rest or doesn't need rest?
I would probably pinch hit for him if I was planning on taking him out anyway, though.

Walter stinks, too. Is he being sent down after this game? Murphy seems better, but I guess they're saving him for the "bullpen game?"

It looks as though Devers is not "BACK," but was able to hit the low-velocity slop he faced yesterday.

His game log is very uneven. He had a couple real stinkers to inflate everything, some excellent appearances, and mostly okay. He seems pretty mediocre, but that’s not bad if used accordingly.
If he sucked azz because something was actually wrong physically? Yes.
If he just sucks azz now? No.
He's been pretty good in his rehab appearances so I think it's probably time to bring him back & see which it is.
If he's still terrible, they can move on pretty quickly & bring Jacques back, or try someone different.
Let me know if you figure it out. I was blacked out on Roku on my home TV in Los Angeles last night in one zip code but was able to get it at the other house in another zip code in LA. Today I was blacked out on the Roku again but streamed it on my computer, using the exact same router. I went to the MLB website to see what was up and couldn't really figure out my situation, but it seems like the "$50" deal for all teams might still get you some blackouts but the $75" one team only might be blackout free?
It's kind of maddening, but since I got MLBTV for free through T-Mobile it's hard to complain too much.
Dammit I've been waiting for a Walter appearance so I could either post the Maude quote or "I Love Waltah", depending on how he did. I was offline all afternoon, and now both have been done already.
Might as well send him back down to AAA after this as far as I'm concerned.
On the other hand, I was not able to watch or listen to this game, so I think I came out ahead in the end.
Also, great job by JTB on the game threads. Hopefully you will have another big run later in the season.
