Sadly, it’s all about the roster. Who else could they have called up, Duran? Hamilton? Not many options. Think they should have cut bait on Dalbec and Duran, but the org seems hesitant, desperately clinging on to guys like that and Ort because…reasons?
Yeah it’s all of a piece. It feels like a lack of organizational urgency in a way. Too OK with mediocrity or poor play. Add in last season’s half-selloff. It’s all just very meh.

Because the only possible redemption for Bloom and Sam Kennedy is that they’ve upgraded the farm system. If they cut bait on hyped prospects like Dalbec and Duran they’re in effect admitting that prospect hype is just so much bullshit.

They are in on every player but end up being completely indecisive unless they can get a deal; and then end up with a roster that makes no sense (remember Eric Hosmer) or a bunch of guys whose main benefit is if they stink, it will only be a one year commitment. Unwilling to cut bait on guys because I guess they don’t want to be wrong? A roster of guys who can theoretically play lots of positions may work in theory but not sure it does in reality.

I do think there might be some scarring from Jeffrey Springs. I remember reading some quotes from last year on Brasier that alluded to Springs.

Which is overlooking the point that Springs likely would not have been any good if he stayed here, because I think the root issue is our coaching & development.

Has Cora had success without the benefit of doing some fancy stuff to steal signs? I didn’t follow the controversy too closely, so if I am wrong in making the connection between sign stealing and success please correct me.

If that's true, it's funny then that Cordero is one of the few guys they did cut bait on and he's raking with the Yankees.

He fluked into 2021’s hot streak. I recall a large chunk of that season being infuriated at how he managed though.

Has to be maddening to manage a team put together like this year after year. It’s almost like spending all those years of development learning a position could make a difference at the MLB level.

Bloom has invented positionless baseball.

So, how many more wins before people start to talk seriously about an undefeated season?

Hear me out here — if the Rays make it to the all-star break without losing, and then come out of the break and rip off like about 50 or so in a row, I think you need to start taking it seriously.

SSS obviously, but... OF COURSE HE IS. He literally does squat with every other team he's been on, but joins the Yankees and immediately starts realizing his potential. Perfect.

Yeah I don’t think it’s surprising at all that once the Sox and Orioles wash their hands of Cordero he turns into Babe Ruth with the Yankees.
It’s maddening.

I say this every year, but the only teams I take seriously in this way are the ones who get to 120-0.
