I had to look twice on the username there, I wouldn't have thought anyone liked the park enough to be a Tropaholic.

Technically, a split is still possible. If Chris Sale has any of that old stopper still in him, now’s the time to prove it.

Game 12
Another game. Another poem.
Another loss in this damn dome.
We just can’t seem to beat the Rays.
(It seems nobody can these days.)
We send Chris Sale back to the mound
to turn our sinking ship around.
Perhaps we’d win if things were changed…
the batting order rearranged…
if new recruits start chipping in
to make the lineup feel less thin…
if starters showed a little spark
and kept the ball inside the park…
if we could find a bullpen ace…
or hit-and-run, or steal a base…
string together some solid hits…
make sure a slumping player sits…
see Cora make a clever move…
or have someone step up and prove
that we are better than we seem -
a fun-to-root-for solid team -
that has a chance of getting hot
to battle for a playoff spot.
One win is not a lot to ask.
Let’s see if we’re up to the task.

These are so much fun. I hope you have another 150+2+3+4+4 of them in you! It would be a magnificent accomplishment.

Sox facing Taj Bradley, #2 in the Rays system and # 37 overall prospect according to Fangraphs

Another guy that can make a spot start and is not a "must have" for the MLB team this year. Sometimes it feels like Tampa is playing a totally different game.

Well, try and jump on him early I guess.

They've been working on their system for 2 decades, and have very rarely made trades that moved prospects out.

They also have as many championships as I do.

He's not the second coming of Dwight Gooden or anything. Bradley is a 22 year old 5th round RHP with two good pitches. He had a very good MiL season last year across AA and AAA (with the expected numbers dip), but his two 2023 MiL starts don't suggest he's what you'd call a hot hand at the moment. (I don't know if I'd take him over Mata in a straight swap, and I certainly wouldn't take him over Bello.)

He pitched a game against Worcester last year and Casas got a hit off him. https://www.milb.com/gameday/bulls-vs-red-sox/2022/08/05/664377#game_state=final,lock_state=final,game_tab=box,game=664377

(We should have called up Valdez as well, who homered.)

Anyway. . .

It'd be a real shame if the kid were overamped and mucked it up.

A real real shame.

Have to give credit where credit is due.

They do in fact have as many championships as you do.

On pace to win about 162 games this year though. You ever done that?

Sale is going to have about 8 strikeouts today… and give up 3 home runs.

Injuries are injuries but that's a last-place lineup right there. How has this team run so low on major league-caliber talent?

Yoshida scratched due to sore hamstring. Dalbec at SS, Kike to CF, Tapia to LF.
Hamstrings are hard to keep healthy when you're trying to turn soft infield grounders into singles 3 to 4 times every game.
Hope he heals quickly and works his way into a non-clean-up spot in the lineup.

That's just weird. Unless they think Dalbec matches up very well against Bradley's pitches, they're playing him at a - position for him defensively, and against the weak side of his bat.

Cora must think Arroyo really needs the day off.

OMG, putting Dalbec at SS with Sale pitching against the Rays (who, as already noted, are going to stack 9 RHH's against him) should be a fireable offense.

It seems like something a SoSHer would do to spite the FO. It's like, Cora's Rebellion or some shit.

It also seems like the kind of thing that, against all reason, will work out to the Red Sox benefit. Like Dalbec is going to go 3 for 4 with a HR while starting a couple clutch double plays from the hole.

Masa showed lots of power in the WBC and occasionally at Fenway. Isn't it possible his hammy has been bothering him for a while?

It’s unfathomable to me that after last years debacle with people playing out of position we are facing the same problem a year later. What are we doing here? Have we learned nothing?
Oh and this guys making his ML debut. So what’s that gonna look like? 7IP of 2 hit shit out ball sounds about right.

Let us know tomorrow how you liked the game, for tonight you feed the Gods of BABIP!
What did he do wrong? Don't you usually choose sacrifices from the vulgar or the particularly stupid? I must have missed something.
And I don't believe in the efficacy of sacrifices. If only it were that easy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The sacrifices will continue until the W-L improves.
