As the games get into the later rounds and the moments get more tense, it will be interesting to see how it plays out but after 3 innings I'm sort of feeling that crowds are more important to baseball atmosphere than hockey or basketball. Maybe it's just a function of configuration. But I was able to slip into a feeling of almost normalcy in watching both the hockey and basketball playoffs with only minor reminders of "this is weird." It's harder in baseball. Again, though, that's with just 3 innings in.

It more has to do with the networks emptying the barrels of programming they have in the vault ... since production halted in the spring and the "new season" which would be up and running by now, has been delayed because of the pandemic
That's good news, if it means their programming isn't usually that inane.

I don't understand how anyone who actually enjoys this sport can think expanded playoffs are a good thing.
Yeah. I feel like its primary feature is to give good teams more chances to lose to weaker teams. That’s shitty.

I'm not in love with expanded playoffs by any means, but one of the knocks on MLB -- in terms of sustaining interest among younger people, particularly -- is that the regular season is too long and filled with games thatall run together in memory.

Even a contrived expanded playoffs, in theory, creates a manufactured intensity.

Then again, no one knows what any of the pro seasons will look like over the next few years. We won't be flipping a switch and returning to normal.

So I'm gonna need a "splanation" of Luzardo, because he just gave up another huge homer.3-O White Sox. (Corrected mistyping of score.)

The Twins have at least 4 or 5 outs today that were hit over 100mph. That last one by Jeffers was 109.5

Luzardo already pulled. Still not sure why they opted to go with him as their #1 option against CWS

Greinke out after 4

I don't understand pulling Greinke. It's a 1-0 game.

He threw 79 pitches and so I assume that barring rain there's no way he can pitch again this series right? I mean, saving him for a potential bullpen game maybe but this series will be over in 48 hours even if it goes 3.

Whenever the camera catches them, the Astros all look like a dog who got caught raiding the trash can. It’s uncanny.

Oh my fucking God, Twins. Every batted ball is right at someone.

This team is fucking hexed in the post season.

I'm just glad the Yanks don't get the auto W by playing the Twins first.
Don't worry; after they dispatch the toothless tribe, I'm sure things will fall into place for them to face the Twins and the A's, also known as Poland and France for all you WWII buffs.

Here's hoping 2020 ends up the same way every post season appearance this century has ended for the Yankees outside of one (and leave it to a team from Philadelphia); with YED.
